Hello,
I have two questions:
Is it possibil take another Foto instead of the one saving belt in the category "Filter"?

How can a Filter which is uploadet be changed or deleted?

In Filter Forge, if you want to apply a filter to a different image (than the default life-saver one) then go to File>Open Image (or press CTRL+O). In Photoshop, the layer that is selected will be used when you go into Filter Forge (when FF is used as a plug-in by PS).

To change an already uploaded filter, you can re-submit the improved filter, and the dialogue boxes will ask you if it is a new filter or an update to an old one -- where you can select the old filter that you want it to replace.

To delete a submitted filter, I think you might have to request this through the contact form (here on this website).

Thanks for the answer.
But you misunderstood me.
During the download to FF, the photo that was already open changed into the default "live saver".
Is it possible to stop this change?

Sorry about misunderstanding you -- I'm still not sure what you mean, but now I think you might be talking about:
1. the preset thumbnails that you see for a filter in FF or
2. the images/thumbnails that you see online in the FF library.

I'm pretty sure those can't be changed.
One reason for this might be because of copyright issues, where FF doesn't want to risk getting sued for using images they don't have the rights to(?).

One idea others have done is to create a filter, then commented on it once it was uploaded to the library. In the comment thread, they'll post other photos and various results of how that filter effected those other photos. (It can help a lot in showing the filter's fuller potential.)

Hey, I just looked at your "No1" filter -- kind of fun, strange effects! smile:) (I did like it better on other photos than the lifesaver one, BTW.)

you can change the default 'life saver' permanently. it's in the forums somewhere. do a search.

Would be nice to have a link to that... if you know it, Craig smile;)
Sorry to say, but not all my searches reveal what I'm looking for until someone is kind enough to direct me to the actual post itself. I had tried to find Ahimsa's post with info on removing those pesky kaleidoscope lines between the duped images, but nothing showed up with her post on this subject. She actually directed me to the post itself and there it was as bold as B&W smile:D

You are more than welcome to use and learn from my FF filters ;)

no clue where it is now, foxxee. but, a search of 'default.bmp' shld find it. that's the image you have to change.

Look in C:\Program Files\Filter Forge\Previews (or wherever you have FF installed, just go to the Previews subfolder). Replacing Default.bmp will replace the "lifesaver" which is loaded at the start of the standalone version. I would strongly recommend against changing any other files, since your presets won't look like the ones on the site anymore, which this might be very misleading if you plan to submit filters.

also, if i remember correctly, you MUST use EXACTLY the same size image as the default.bmp or you'll get an error and FF wont load.

and DO save a copy of the default.bmp... just in case!

If I recall correctly, there are no restrictions, Kraellin, but in the case that I really forgot something, the default lifesaver image is 600x600. Also, the bitmap placed instead of Default.bmp can be not only in Windows BitMaP format, but also in any format which is supported via File->Open Image... menu (JPEG, PNG, TIFF, OpenEXR, TGA and PFM) -- just rename the file to "Default.bmp" (be sure to change extension to bmp, Filter Forge will correctly recognize image file format regardless of it's name).

By the way, is the "Open last used image on startup" in a future version option looks good to you?

I rarely use FF as a stand alone, but for those who do, it seems like it could be a nice feature -- as long as there is also a quick way to get the default lifesaver image back (for those who are creating filters and want to see how it will look in the library).
