Download Filters Problem.
I went to the library to download the new submissions. Everything worked as normal until I clicked the Texture Submissions when I got this message.
I had already added the new filters in the Effects category to download when this happened but none downloaded and now FF seems to think I have downloaded them as they are now hidden when I clicked ‘Hide Already Downloaded’
Now I can’t download anything and get the same error message.

vladimir posted in another thread that they had found another bug in the submissions stuff and that it would be worked on early this week. i'm guessing that's what you're running into. it was just one post by vlad in another thread and i dont recall the link right now, but if i find it again i'll post it.

I was just having the same problem...
restarted my system, restarted Filter Forge and everything works fine.
Maybe they did the fix while I turned off or the restart reset things? Sherry

Hi Sherry.
I’m glad you are working again but I am not. It looks like FF thinks I have already downloaded the new filters (which I can’t get). FF produced a new error (attached) and also submitted a bug report. I hope someone can get me working again.

I tried moving the filter mentioned in the bug report (208-1) from FF Library to My Filters.
It did not help. But it produced a new error.

The same here as the 1st post by Ken. Maybe there is some filter as XML file extension instead of FFXML.

Hi Lucato.
Sorry to here you are having the same problem as I am.
I thought I would be clever and tried this.
Close FF and PS
Go to C:\Documents and Settings\Name\Application Data\Filter Forge\System
Delete everything in the Cache, Library and Thumbnails Folders
Open PS and FF
Download Everything Again.
However I then got these errors. So this Don’t Work.
Vladimir. We need some help here.

Thanks for reporting the problem! We fixed this and now Filter Library is accessible as usual.
It was small technical incompatibility in stable and development product versions. We'll try to prevent such problems in the future.

Hi Top.
It appears that you have sorted out the problem, thanks.
Today everything works again. The only difference is that there were only 10 new filters in the Effect Submissions category where as yesterday I think there were over 20?
Also the number of filters in each category has disappeared but that may be part of the library update.
Hi Truman.
I was still able to submit a filter yesterday, so I don’t think the problems are related.

We find out that sometimes after crashing of Filter Forge new filter is displayed incorrectly. It's very hard to determine where problem really is because in normal conditions it works fine. I keep trying do various tests.

Hi Top.
If you take a look at the snapshot I took in my first post of this thread there is a filter called Aurora Borialis.
This filter seem to have disappeared completely. It is not on my computer and it is not in the library and I think there may be others missing too.
I have dowloaded every filter available.
In my system cache I have 488 filters and in my Library I have 422 Filters
I have the list on a spreadsheet. I will not upload but I can email it to you if it helps

When a filter which you downloaded earlier is removed from the Library, FF "disconnects" it from the Library and moves it to "My Filters" -- please try to look there.

Filter 'Aurora Borialis' was broken. And it was the problem actually, this filter could not be handled by current beta version of Filter Forge. Also (as mentioned by Vladimir above) filters you already downloaded can "disconnects" from Library but this is not connected with 'Aurora Borialis'.

This mismatch probably connected with way Library works. From Filter Library window you can see only the latest versions of filters, however in system cache (implementation trait for now) stored all versions.

Hi.
Thanks for the replies Top and Vladimir
If Aurora Borialis has been removed then it appears I am back to normal.
There are 422 filters in the online library and 422 filters in my PC library.
What is the system cashe?
This is now holding 488 filters because of updates so there are 66 old filters in there, which are not accessible. I understand that filters removed from the library get moved to ‘my filters’ but these old versions of current filters are just going to build up.
I would have expected FF to delete these older unused versions. Will this be implemented in a final version?
Is it OK to delete them manually?
Is it OK to delete everything in the cashe? or I could delete everything in the cashe and then copy back the 422 filters from the library.
I understand that it is not really a problem at the moment, but in time it could lead to wasted disk space.
(These figures were before today’s Submissions, where I also noticed that the Aurora Borialis filter has been resubmitted.)

System cache is Filter Forge's internal storage created to reduce network load. It can change in future releases.

It's possible in the current beta but we do not recommend this.

For sure, deleting unused data will be implemented in the final version. It is closely connected with filter updates and approval process. We plan to re-design this.
