i had a crash over the weekend. this sounded very similar to ones others had reported but i couldnt find the thread where i'd read about those. so, i'm just posting here.
attached is the error message that popped up. i was able to generate and send a bug report. and it wasnt what i'd call a full crash. FF was still up and running, but it just kept on generating the bug report popup. i was able to remove the file that was causing the problem and things are working fine now. what was similar to the other reports i'd read was how it occurred. it seemed to happen because of changing the same nodes and lines on the same few components over and over again. i was trying to get a particular look and kept swapping components in and out and changing the various lines to the different nodes. this was at the 'Results' component in a 'Surface' type filter. therefore, i suspect this might have to do with the 'height' control in 'Results', as that was the one i kept trying to change the most. it could also have something to do with changing a 'Simple' filter into a 'Surface' filter. that's what i did. i had a working 'Simple' filter that i wanted to see how it would work and look with HDRI embedded, so i changed a fully operational filter with multiple components into a 'Surface' filter. normally, i start from scratch with either 'simple' or 'surface' and dont change them to the other. there was also a name change and save done at a couple of points. so, i even have an earlier working version under a different name if you need that for comparison. craig i also saved out the errant file if you need a copy of it. ![]() If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

That's already fixed and the fix is scheduled to appear in the next release. Just for checking -- did you use any of the filters that include "Preserve color" checkbox checked in the subtree that is connected to the "Reflection blur" input of the Surface Root Component?

onyxmaster,
the only 'preserve color' checkbox that was checked on was in a brightness/contrast component that was hooked into the 'height' node on the 'results' component. there was an additional brightness/contrast component way back in the tree that didnt have the preserve checked. so, the one hooked into results was on and the other was off. all other components that had preserve color were also off. that's going by the last save before the crash, so, i cant be 100% sure it wasnt a bit different in the version that did crash. craig If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

umm, ok. what's the report line on this? who do i send it to and what address? shld i report it under the 'contact us' here through the forums or shld i send it to email address on my original authorization emails or is there another one?
i could post the filter here in the forums but thought that might not be smart in that someone might download it and try it and crash. craig If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

onyxmaster,
i didnt see any way to attach a file to the 'email' thing here on the forum, so i'm just attaching it to the post here. please, just delete this post or the attachment once you've gotten it. or, if i can edit it later i'll remove it. so, to anyone else, the attached here is a bugged file (at least on my computer) and is very likely to cause your FF to crash! craig Post Processing with HDRI 2.ffxml If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!
