Yes. Since I wondered about antialiasing I did check those settings and increased the level a bit.

I also looked at each component, though in my case I went in reverse order by following the input chain. I have tracked it down to a map script each time, though the grid of pixels seems to come and go. I repeated this a few times to confirm that the problem is intermittent and occurs when a noise map script is fed into a distortion map script. Individually, these scripts have no issues. I think the problem relates to the increase of noise during distortion.

I have a pretty complex graph with multiple copies of four or five map scripts, and they are all essential, settings included. So, changing the settings isn't acceptable in practice. If I have time today, I will see if a simpler graph can reproduce the problem with a minimum number of components. I'll post that if it works.
