I use Affinity Photo, which does support the Photoshop Filter plugin format. (I am still able to use all my Photoshop Filters left after I uninstalled PS CC and stopped my subscription.
However I have noticed some issues with Filter Forge 9 and Affinity. When you create a new blank document in Affinity Photo, all the filters (including FF9 are greyed out and not accessible. The only way I got the filter to work was to fill the blank document (a 2048 x 2048 blank image) with a color like white and let Affinity change the image to a Pixel layer. The it will activate all filters. The 2nd issue occurs when you use a filter (that has the Diffuse, Bump, Normal channels active but NOT channels like Ambient Occlusion. If you activate a channel that is normally not active in a filter and apply the filter to send back to Affinity Photo, Affinity just sits there completely locked doing nothing. Only entering Task Manager and killing the process will allow you get control back. A workaround would be to run FF9 as a standalone, but FF9 only allows you to create a bitmap of 600 x 600. Are the FF9 developers aware of this issue? I know it is primarily a Affinity issue, but perhaps you might have some insight. |

Thank you. So we wait for Serif to fix the issue... I have added my issue to their thread that states the FF plugin support was broken from Affinity 1.6 onwards.
Is there no workaround for bypassing the 600x600 pixel limitation in the standalone FF program in the meantime? |

There is no such limitation: Filter Forge Basic and Standard are limited to 3000x3000 px images, while trial and Professional are limited to 65000x65000 images. Just run standalone FF and select File > Open Image or File > New Image. |

Thanks, I missed that part of the standalone. I had always worked with FF as a plugin for PS CS5-CC2019, but with Serif breaking plugins in Affinity Photo I have to look at other options...
