Hello, I recently purchased filter forge and initially I had no problems. However, when I try to download filters now I get one of 2 error messages.
The first and most common one is "get rating info failed" and the other one is "get families failed". I sent an email and they replied with really nothing useful, just generic "possible fixes". I have reinstalled it 4 times, I have tried using other computers and different internet providers. I installed it on my brothers computer using his internet and it still does not work. Am I ever going to be able to even use this program? What do these errors actually mean? I ask because it appears that I will have to fix this myself. Any help would be most appreciated. |

This means your Filter Forge copy is unable to parse the response returned by the library server. However the server itself is working properly.
What exact Filter Forge version do you use? Please go to Help > About and write down the version number. |

I am having the same problem with the "Initial data download failed:'get_rating_info() failed.'. I have 4.0.14 Professional.
I really thought when I upgraded to the Professional version all the issues I was having would stop but that doesn't seem to be the case. |

I am not sure if this would work for that specific error, but you could try this.
Go to the Filter Forge library's roaming folder, mine is located at - "C:\Users\rsbro_000\AppData\Roaming\Filter Forge 4\System\Library" Create a new folder on your desktop and move the folders , "Library", "Cache" and "Thumbnails", to the newly created folder. Open Filter Forge, and you should see nothing there. Close Filter Forge and uninstall it. Go to your program files folder and delete your Filter Forge folder there. Also delete the Filter Forge folder in the "roaming" folder. Now reinstall it. Go to the Filter Forge site and try to download a filter. If you are successful, close filter forge and move the Library,Cache, and Thumbnails folders from the created folder to the new Filter Forge folder in "roaming/filter forge/system". I hope that helps, if it doesn't you could try using windows hack software to force the Filter Forge application to connect to the online server. I often have to use it to connect to game servers, because my satellite internet creates a loop that prevents a connection. |

I have the same issue. Click to add a filter, it brings up the connecting window as normal, then I get an error "Initial data download failed:'get_rating_info() failed.'" and it won't work. I have 4.014 Professional as well, and this only just started happening within a week ago.
I don't like the fact I may have to reinstall the whole program just to get it working, this makes no sense. I haven't made any major changes to my computer since last downloading filters a week ago. Any official comment on this would be appreciated. -Hobolyra- |
