I bought the Filter Library Backup. I added it to FF, but it seems that all Snippets in the Effects category are missing.

I suggest to all people who bought the Library Backup to go checking if they are having the same problem and download the filters of this category manually if, like for me, they are missing.

Wouldn't it be easier if the FF team upd ated the backup file? Have you reported the error to them?

This seems like a good opportunity to ask a few questions that I have been wondering about.

1. When you buy the FF library backup, aside fr om the FFXML filter files themselves, do you get an interface wh ere you can browse them and view the prese t renderings (like on the FF website)?

2. If you buy the backup, are you entitled to free updates when new filters are released, or do you have to buy another backup when the one you have is outdated?

3. Is the prime motivator to buy the backup the need to have offline access to all the filters (e.g. while travelling), or is there a more sinister reason (e.g. fear that FF may shut down the website)?

Ramlyn, the latest backup version seems to contain everything. When did you purchase it?
I've looked for the first 5 snippets in the Effects category and was able to find all of them. Here are their ids: 10216, 11571, 11292, 10844, 10794.
You can search by filter id using the built-in search function.

EAdams, so far as I find out the last days you can see them in FF on the left side alltogether, also you find them in the correct category. Unfortunately you do not get a separate interface where you can browse them as at the website. Infact that would of course be very convenient.....
I don't know how FF is handling updates. May be someone of the FF-Team could inform us?
My reason to buy the backup was to save time. I am first of all no english speaking native, and I am just doing some private fotoworks for fun, so I am not so familar with all the different names for special features and also sometimes do not even know what a special feature means. Having all the files on my computer I can quite quickly go through them and just see what happens - learning by doing - try and error..... -
and it is really quite quick to go through them and see what happens.

For GMM :

I bought the backup in January of this year.
Only the Snippets of the Effects category were missing. All others kinds, included the Snippets of the Textures category, were ok.
The last 2-3 months of filters were missing too ( if I remember well, the filters in the disc were from the middle of November ).

Anyway, I don't mind.
It is not a big problem to download a few filters.
I only wanted to inform the other members to download them in case they were missing in their disc too.

For EAdams :

I reported the problem only here. The FF team always check the forum, so I was sure that they would read it.

1. As Banilette said, there is no separate interface to see the filters.

2. The backup is sent as :
- CD-ROM. I don't think they can send a new CD-ROM every some period for free. It would cost them a lot, much more than what we pay.
- Link by email . I don't know if the backup link is updated, but it could be interesting.

3. My motivation was to have all filters in my FF without downloading them one by one.
I don't think the site will close. More and more people started to like FF, and I hope that many of them will buy it.

Ramlyn, we can send you a link for an updated backup because your copy seems to be (inexplicably!) incomplete. However we don't generally provide free updates to the library backup: if you want to get the latest filters you can freely download them from the online library.
