Title says it all... I preordered FF 4.0 when I bought FF 3.0, now I got the download link to the trial and the license keys, but I can't do anything because after completing the installation, nothing happens when I try to run it. If I try to run it again after some minutes, Windows says the program is already running (? where?). If I try to launch the plugin from Photoshop, it gets locked (all I see is the "FF is running" text - clicking on it to switch to FF does nothing).
I uninstalled it, reinstalled (this time it did not ask whether to import or not my downloaded filters) but same thing, it won't work.
I'm using Windows 8.1, Intel 7, 20 GB... Any ideas? Does FF 4.0 really work for the rest of you? (It has been just released, or so it seems)
THANKS for any help.

Oh, nevermind, about 15 minutes after running it, it has appeared on screen! I introduced the license code, and now it seems to run ok... great!

This is the exact same problem I am having with the new FF 4.0 trial. FF 3 has run with no problem. Got the notification that FF 4 was out ... .tried to install with no launch. Any help will be appreciated.

Dan3, I dont' know if the problem will be the same for you, but in my case, all I had to do is wait... a very long wait (15, maybe 20 minutes, I'm not sure), but when I had already forgotten about it, it just popped on my screen.
The first time around I just rebooted and then uninstalled. Maybe it was copying the ff3.0 filters to the ff4.0 installation, I don't know. Just launch it and wait, do other things in the meantime... I hope it eventually works for you too!

Thanks, Carlos. Waited longer than I ever have for any other program I have ever installed. You were right! Everything came up ...... finally. Now, appears to be up and running. I hope 4 is worth the wait!

How many filters do you have locally?
Filter Forge caches all dowbloaded/custom filters on the first run, so it may take up to 30 minutes with thousands of filters.

GMM: Thanks for your answer. I don't know the exact number but there must be a lot of them since I also purchased the downloadable filter collection when I purchased my original FF3.0 license.
Now that you mention it... I have 2 questions:
1) is there some way to make sure the filters caching was done completely? I don't know how to see the total number of filters cached.
2) would it be convenient to uninstall FF 3.0 now that 4.0 is up and running?
Again, thanks a lot for explaining the reason for this initial delay.
