I have have been in a webinar Adobe has given for the new CS6, and in the questions part, someone asked about the future of plugins for Photoshop CS6, and Adobe have said that they are in search for the excellence and have the best quality plugins for Photoshop, and to be able to achieve this will probably require a new certification for the third party companies to show that they plugins are upgraded and can made following the trend of CS6 that is they are as easy, intuitive, fast and that show the best of CS6 and that does not hinder the workflow of professionals.

So after this surprising although understandable news from Adobe, I wonder what will happen with Filter Forge ??? smile:?:

After GMM has said that Ff 4.0 will NOT have any kind of GPU acceleration, and there is NO news that FF Inc. will make something to improve and make a better render engine, what will happen with Adobe when FF 4.0 is released and keep being slow as it is now ?

Adobe will NOT force the companies to upgrade the plugins to make them the best and fastest they can, BUT will probably not give the quality certification that they deserve and will be probably left behind.

I do not want at all that Filter Forge would be left behind and loose market and credibility and be not be able to get the possible approval of Adobe.

BUT, what happens if FF inc. can´t really make a new render engine because it would be TOO MUCH work and would require much to be done to do it because how was built FF from the beginning?

I don't think Filter Forge will have any trouble obtaining this kind of certification smile:)

Yes, GMM I hope you are right, and Adobe will be kind with Filter Forge and will value much more all the positive and good things about FF, and not the bad things like the slow preview and rendering, specially when the focus on CS6 is to make it as fast as possible and this is why they have included Pixel Bender inside Photoshop to have Realtime preview and render filters and be the new standard for other companies to follow and do the same.

lol I think FilterForge is seriously better than Pixel Bender as a development environment. There's no way this program will get turned down.

Here's a test: pick a filter from the editor's picks and rewrite the entire thing using pixel bender. smile;) I'm sure its doable. </sarcasm>

Adobe is still a corporation no ? Then quantity over quality, lip service be damned ha-ha. Plus really, unless Genetica or some other big rival comes along, what's better than FF at what it does ? smile:p

I agree and you are totally right that Filter Forge is WAY MUCH BETTER from the developer of filters point of view, there is NO other software that makes it as easier and very well done as the FF node based system, even better than Genetica and Substance designer that are from my experience more complex and so good than FF.

I hope that you are right, because from the videos and news I have seen recently for CS6 Adobe is aiming and pointing that they need very fast and great quality plugins for new faster and better CS6, and will not like older plugins that has not been updated and get the most of the computer and photoshop.

I mean that most of the ccompanies have already updated and optimized their plugins and will surely update even more now possibly after CS6, but Filter Forge will not be able to do it, as seems that they are blocked because of the way it was built since the beginning.

I hope and wish that Adobe will consider NOT ONLY the speed of FF, but of course ALL the many good points that FF have and makes it an awesome plug in.
