DAZ does indeed have quite some reputation for pushing the additional content to you. But quite honestly the programs they're offering for free aren't bad at all. While the "hobbyist" feel sticks around with these programs, the functionality of programs like Hexagon are close to what's offered in Maya to a degree.
By the way, the first 3D program I ever touched was Bryce ![]() |

Bryce was far from the first 3D program I ever used, but when it came out it was SO much more advanced than the rest. First time I saw it I was thinking NO WAY!

I have been in the DAZ website since 2007. Although JUST NOW since last November I have began to learn how to make things in 3D (I had not had time before and also my computer was very old, and Is just now that I got a more powerful computer to do 3D)
I am a DAZ platinum member club since two years ago, and I recommend it totally and absolutely, because you will SAVE LOTS AND LOTS OF $$$$$$. I was going to put this news here, but I did not know if it would be useful, sorry that I thought wrong. There is one very good reason, why DAZ have just made it available for free in the beginning of february, and is because in March is the Greatest and Biggest SALE AND DISCOUNTS MONTH that each each is made and is called MARCH MADNESS, and they have between 40 to 70% discount, and sometimes on some very selected things are even 95% discount. And also each day they make new product offerings specially made for this SALE MONTH FESTIVAL. They are giving all this $700 software for free for you motivate and to buy all the additional resources that they sell in the 3D Store. |

This FREE offer was going to end tomorrow 29 february, BUT has been extended until the 31 of March !!!
So if you have not yet registered and put this in you account, please do it before it ends. It´s 800$ worth !! Once you have added it to your account is totally free for you and there is no time limit and will not finish and it is totally like if you have bought it. And you will have it in your account to download when you need it, does not need to download now. WHAT IS VERY IMPORTANT to get it totally FREE is that you add this software to you cart and have it stored in your DAZ account. That is all. |

For learning how to use this, there are lots of video tutorials in You tube from DAZ, and LOTS of help inside the forums.
By the way for new users DAZ = Digital Art Zone I am a real beginner on this too and know only a very few basic things, but if you want you can ask me, although probably is better on the DAZ Forum. If you do not want to buy, There are MANY free 3D models on the DAZ website and all over internet to use with the DAZ 3D products. Main sources for 3D models (both free and paid) are www.daz3d.com www.renderosity.com www.runtimedna.com www.contentparadise.com and many others more over internet. ALSO there are some software converters to be able to make compatible some 3D models between the different softwares available. |

There is still 14 days left to get this software for FREE then probably will go up again to the real price, so do not miss it, EVEN if you are NOT interest in 3D right now, you could register in the DAZ website and get it, you DO NOT HAVE TO DOWNLOAD IT, so it will be available for you in your account if you decide to use it.
The account does not expire and you can keep it there until needed. ALSO even is good if you are not going to use it now, BECAUSE WHAT IS ALSO VERY IMPORTANT is that you are not only getting the software for free, YOU ARE GETTING AN OFFICIAL SERIAL NUMBER, so if in the future there is the release of DAZ Studio 5, it will be much cheaper for you because you already own the serial number for version 4. So this is why I tell you that even if you do not have intention to to 3D now, but could perhaps in the future. this would be a good moment to get this free offer |

I want to give the news that this DAZ Studio Pro is STILL given for FREE in the Daz 3D website and it has been upgraded to version 4.6 with more new and useful features. And there is not trick about this and you will not have to pay anything else to use it, just register with your account, and there is no time limit.
And now it will be given for free always until further notice. I have seen in PixelSlaughter thread
I do not know what 3D software he may be using, but I wanted to bump this thread again also for FF users that wanted to make some 3D graphics works but do not have the money to buy the expensive 3D software. |

DAZ Studio Pro intends to be more like a assembly tool than anything. All the extra assets you can purchase on DAZ are intended to be used with it. There's almost no modeling feature excepting make a couple base primitives, limited lighting, and some acceptable level of rendering.
It's good fun though. Once you're cool, start modeling! ![]() |

Hexagon isn't free any more. It is 19 USD now i believe.
What is very cool is you can use the same serial on different machines. I have installed Hex on 4 different computers now and have had no problems whatsoever. Anyways i am happy i grabbed mine when it was offered for free. ![]() Excellent 3D modeling software. Rod

DAZ STUDIO IS STILL FREE FOR UNLIMITED TIME
I want to put there that 3D DAZ Studio Pro 4.6 is totally free to get and there is NO limited time to get it,, so until further notrice it will always be free. I bump this thread again because I know that some of you like to use 3D textures made with filter forge, and maybe this free 3D software could help or be useful in some way. |

Lol - Both Carrara and DAZ Studio have come a long way. Sad that Bryce still is 32 bit only and wont work on anything newer than OS X 10.6 on Macs.

DAZ STUDIO 4.6 IS STILL FREE FOR UNLIMITED TIME
You only need to register in the DAZ 3D website and you can download and use it What would be really good ans useful is to know HOW to use FF 3D Textures inside DAZ in the best possible way, as I still have problems with this.
YES, I was a great fan of Metacreations company as they have really cool and great innovative ideas and different as any other, with a better and excellent interface intuitive and very graphical and elegant, but later was dissolved and was bought by at least 4 different companies, one of them DAZ.
So you can´t use any 32 bit only software in newer OS X than 10.6? In windows it is possible to use 32 bit installing it in a special folder dedicated for 32 bit software. Maybe, as Bryce is very popular, they could make Bryce 8 64 bit. |

You can, but Bryce as 32 bit makes it die even on PC due to larger textures today, and they have an ugly hack on mac OS X that breaks on 10.7 or up.

It export to Collada and DAZCollada and fbx. Allthough Collada is a pain as every program seems to have their own idea about how collada works and versions. I have several collada using softwares and it always fails, worse is Google Sketchup (I got some files as both collada and .obj and they were really trashy, but can be the person who did the model too.

Totte yes I know that Sketchup is not good with Collada and have not used that much.
I need Collada because that is the only format I can import as to my platform, and I am using Maya 2011 now. It would though be nice to find something less expensive now, and DAZ could be it. |
