Thanks very much for your answer, so I am right what I was thinking and the author looses all the usage stats and won´t count.
Would be possible in FF 4.0 to have some kind of way that if you modify SLIGHTLY a filter and make small changes, it could be still count and be able to send the usage stats?
I know that is probably difficult how to define and what means "modify slightly" a filter so it is still considered the author´s work, and fr om which point the filter is much more modified and could then loose the usage stats.

USING FILTER EDITOR ONLY TO MODIFY JUST THE SETTINGS INSIDE THE FILTER
I have seen that on some filters have some good presets and a careful list of controls and well done, BUT Perhaps there are some settings that have not been given as options or can´t be modified fr om outside the filter editor, so you have to go inside and JUST AND ONLY modify the settings of some components, so you will not be adding or deleting any component and you will NOT change anything inside the filter, so all the works still belongs to the author.
BUT you can´t use the filter editor to render and save an image, so the only way is to save the modified settings as a new filter, but this filter will go to the "my filters" library and even that you have NOT change any component inside and the filters keeps being the same it does not belong anymore to the author and he will not have any reward or recognition for it.
COULD THERE BE A WAY WH ERE IF YOU JUST MAKE A CHANGE OF THE SETTINGS OF THE COMPONENTS THE FILTER COULD KEEP THE USAGE STATS ?
Also perhaps if I want to expand the name in one of the control settings inside the filter, because perhaps it puts "Activate" and I would prefer and want to have it renamed to "Activate Grid", so the filter will be as a whole exactly the same, ONLY changes a little bit in the name of one control setting, BUT again you canñt save back this very little change and keep the usage stats.
