Hi,
after trying all what I found about that (without any positiv result for me... smile:( ) I ask here again - maybe someone has found an other or better way :

Has somebody got FF to work as a plugin in
PhotoImpact without the breaking-message:

<class XFW::ArgumentError> UInvalid image dimensions (0;0).

If so, with which version and which tricks?

It happens when I try to fill the whole picture as well as if I want to work on a part of the picture...

Thank You
Rolf

PS:
There is a way to "work around" the problem a little bit... - look at the next posting, if there is any interest..

Hi again,

because I want to use FF in PhotoImpact as a plugin for choosen parts of the picture I tried the following (needs a lot of ram, I am afraid...??? - and works precise only using FF-textures without transparent parts, I think for the moment...):

1. I First make my mask, object or so in PhI... - because it is not shown as mask in the next step I recolore it in a special colour before calling DeepPaint if I dont use a transparent FF-filter)

2. I call as plugin/effect in PhI the before installed plugin/program "DeepPaint" (2D-version is free now in the web - I found it "googeling" for free graphic-soft...) - a great program !!! - as "standalone" and as plugin... - and it itself uses FilterForge as plugin...

3. In DeepPaint I make a (rough) mask over the region my PhI-mask/object is - for transparent FF-filters I must guess - or I have the pre-coloured area... - or I fill the picture... - as I want it...

4. In DeepPaint I call the plugin "FilterForge" - the usual part...

5. Then I transfer back to PhI... - only the object/mask/choosen area will be changed!

My first trys seem to work... - maybe for other programs that don`t want to use FilterForge it works, too... - I will try in the next days...

Rolf

PS:
If You don't need it in PhI:
only "DeepPaint" is worth a try !!! smile:) smile:)

Rolf, we didn't test the workaround but your post made us seriously consider implementing Ulead PhotoImpact support.

It's done now - in the next version of Filter Forge, Ulead PhotoImpact 11 and 12 will be added as officially supported hosts. If you would like us to add earlier versions of PhotoImpact too, please tell us where we can find the distributives because all we could find were versions 11 and 12.

You will probably laugh at this but Im a recent convert to photoshop been a gimp man forever
Its late or I would try but has anyone tested this with pspi for the gimp
as far as I know only about 40% of the photoshop filters I tried worked under the gimp using it Didnt know if you guys might want to consider
The gimp since its gaining support and popularity and also maybe inkscape since It would be interesting to use some of this in vector graphics
lets all whine for a wine port

We tried to run Filter Forge under PSPI, and it didn't work. Later on, we'll probably see what can be done about it.
