If I use a filter and alter its settings and don't like the results of the alteration, is there a simple way to restore the default settings of that filter?

All filters have several presets; when you alter a filter's settings, you're not actually changing the preset until you click "Upd ate preset" in the presets screen. Clicking on a preset will reset the settings to that preset. You can also save your current se ttings to a preset if you want.
Hope this helps !

Thank you. Does this mean that if I click on a Default Factory Preset for a filter, tweak the Preset's settings, then click on another Factory Preset, THEN go back to the Default Factory Preset - does this mean that it will now show the image with the actual default settings for the Default Factory Preset? Or will it show the image with the altered settings that I previously plugged in while clicking around the Factory Presets?

I hope that's not too confusing.

Yep....If you choose the first preset and move the sliders around then go to another preset....The first one when click on will have not remembered your settings.....You can however click the arrow for the sub-menu and choose to add preset...This will add a preset at the end of the line in the presets so in case you liked the way you tweaked it...

This sounds perfect, thank you! I was hoping it wouldn't keep my alterations, unless I explicitly asked for it. This helps, thank you.

Factory smile:)
at least 90 percent of all sensation is texture, even beyond the visual, with elements of noise, tone, gradients, interval and degree.
