WOW !! Congrtaulations making the first step towards the final version of FF 3.0.

The beta testing will be conducted in several stages, with new features added at every stage

So I think there will be several beta releases until the final commercial release that I think could be on autumm 2011 ?

Support for Multiple Source Images

Really excellent and a very needed feature to multiple the great power of FF.

Please, in the beta page of this feature http://www.filterforge.com/download/b...mages.html is not put WHICH kind of image files can be used, I mean if they are JPEG, TIFF, PNG with or without transparency or any other.

Another question if the multiple images must be in the same size and resolution or they can be in differet size and different resolution ?

Progressive Previews

YES !! YES !! A great advanced to make FASTER previews to show a rough idea of the final result before rendering because now depending on the filter can be sometimes very slow.

Will it be able to use graphic card accelleration by using Open Gl, Open CL, or Nvidia Cuda ?

More Preview Images

If you are a longtime Filter Forge user, you're probably sick and tired of the default lifesaver image that Filter Forge uses to preview rendered results – and so are we!

YES !!!! YES !!! YES !!!! You are absolutely right, the livesaver is good and nice but as you say, I am too REALLY sick and tired of it, specially when the filter is much more wonderful and beautiful when applied to a DIFFFERENT preview image other than lifesaver.

Will be able to CHOOSE which preview you want to see in the filter library before downloading the filter ?

I am really excited for the great future that now opens for the next generation of the greatest and powerful awesome program that is Filter Forge

Yep this is a great feature and I agree...That lifesave just does no justice to certain filters..

Yes CFandM as you say, the lifesaver does no justice to certain filters that when was the lifesaver preview was not very much attractive, and then tried with the same filter OTHER different images as source AND WOOOWW !!! It changed a lot and got much better and beautiful results. So I think that this multiple preview could boost the promotion make more justice to the hard work and effort of filter makers.

since i cant post in the beta 3.0 forum right now (bug?) i'll ask here. if i install beta 3.0 will it overright any other filter forge version i have installed currently? i have version 1 and 2 installed separately. both work fine. i hate presuming that 3 will not overright, so i ask to be sure.

Kraellin, beta 3.0 will install as a separate application. It's absolutely independent of v1.0 and v2.0 and shouldn't get in the way.

thanks, victoria, CF&M, i figured as much, but i always like to ask on these things just in case.

and what settings would one import from 1.0 or 2.0? oh, i think i know. one's option settings and such. ok.

and victoria, under your name it says "moderator". you work for FF, inc.? and if so, could you see about fixing the beta 3.0 forum, please?

Couldn't post this one yet but...After installing the beta I tried opening FF and kept getting the MS error dialog and FF never opened.....I tried this several times and checked the shortcut and it was pointing to Filter Forge....I am running an AMDxp chip on where I have installed.......So I simply changed the shortcut to point at Filter Forge x86 and then all was good again... smile;) smile:)

ok, what is this new component, the "Paticle Adapter"? frankly, it doesnt seem to do anything... so far.

and how do we import the multiple images for use? i cant seem to find anything. is it only in the gui or only in the editor or what?

ok, it's doing something, but i cant tell what yet. it also doesnt seem to follow the rules about colored nodes and lines. it has a green node but most green lines plugged into it give the red x thing meaning bad use or connection.

wow! woohoo!
It looks really great! I love the idea of new preview images with transparency too.
I do wish there was a preview image of people though, I tend to do a lot of portraits.
I would love to see about 6 to 9 faces close up of all skin hues(pink, yellow, tan, brown, chocolate), male & female and young and old. The faces would ideally be close together. Here is an example- but I would rather whole faces than half- but this would do- just to have human faces to test out the filters. Do you think something like this is possible for the final release?

I can't believe the Filter Forge has been around for 3 version already; how cool is this. The other features are great, but don't feel extremely revolutionary; but the new renderer is a huge huge improvement.

I created several Q&A threads in the beta forum, and already answered some of the questions posted above. If you have more questions about the features we introduced in the beta, ask them in these threads:

FF3.0 Q&A: Multiple Source Images
FF3.0 Q&A: Progressive Previews
FF3.0 Q&A: Built-In Preview Images
