When we were waiting for FF2 i had my hopes up..
Now please understand im not complaining or dissing the filtermakers ..
But when i check the filter libraries ... i see more and more of the same we had in FF 1 ...
And more of the same in general ..
Did we see the top of what FF can do ? and is it now a time fro repeating what we have..

Im just wondering.. i though FF2 was capable of much more then FF 1
Im not a filter maker thats why i ask .. did you guys reach FF limits already ??

Greetings

Chris

"did we reach the top of FF ?" I don't think so smile;)

I guess people see no point in submitting work that gets ripped off by others all the time. At least thats how I feel about it..

As author when you submit a filter to the library, you only maintain rights over the actual filter itself and not what it can produce or its presets. Many filters submitted are really more like dynamic works of art, which no matter what image you feed them (if any) and how you tweak them always will have their unique characteristic look in the result. Seeing others promote or sell the result of such filters as their own original work is just too much.

But really.. all this has been debated to hell and back again.. no need to start a new discussion, its not going to change anything.

Hope for some new authors that takes on the HU point quest smile:)

there was an inventor back in 1910 or so, who told the world he was quitting because there was just nothing left to invent. it had all been done. and, we see how that went. hang in there, baby; you aint seen nothin yet smile;)

Hey Everyone, smile:)

Well said Sphinx. smile;)

There are a LOT of super AWESOME Authors out there, who have closed there doors to filter makeing, that is, submitted to Filter Forge. A lot of the seasoned authors have more HU's than they can use, and after getting abused by ......well, anyway,
I think you get the idea.

Filter Forge is a tully fantastic program, we all love it! smile:loveff:
It's just, after the party is over,HU's & EP's, there should be something more for all of us. Just a thought. smile;)

Have a GREAT day Everyone! smile:)

Perhaps what is needed is a Best Filter of the Month prize. Something like an iPad or other tangible. That could stimulate new entries and interest in getting the best filters submitted.

This is happening because FF is making some bad long-run business decisions, IMHO.... Their focus is just on the program and obtaing short-run $$$ upon the V2 release....while doing nothing at all to (1) foster author involvement, (2) provide further incentives for authors to excel and submit filters beyond existing library quality, and (3) protect author's texture work from being hijacked and resold....

Also, the 30-day trial period is not nearly enough time for most to learn the program and create filters that will obtain high usage in competition with the other 8000 filters in the library....

I've warned that this would happen for quite some time....and I'm hoping FF decides to do something about it before it's too late....

I've just been busy lately, w/ not that much energy to spend on Filter Forging. smile:?: Also, speaking for myself, learning scripting seems like a huge mountain to climb, so I haven't looked at it at all.

Guys thnx for the feedback ...

Your Honest repleys do make me feel "im not a filtermaker" that for me stricktly a user
its not going to get better..

I think that if the Makers of FF not give a better deal to the Filtermakers "you guys" it soon game over.
Why get a new version " as a FF user" if its not supported anymore ..

But for users like me its saving them Filters now and NEVER upgrade again.. because thats pointless if no real new stuff is released anymore.. such a pitty, but i realy realy do understand you guys..

You guys MAKE this tool to what it is.. and i thank you for it..

there have been two new editor picks within the last week or so. so, filter making hasnt died completely. i think it's mostly the 'old hands' who have stopped submitting (and mind you i said submitting, not creating). the new blood is still producing and submitting.
