ok, i dont know about the rest of the folks here, but the forums have been acting weird for a while now. i think it was somewhere around the official release of v2 that some of this started.
first, if i write a post longer than where it makes the writing area scroll down, after a little bit of this the scroll starts to screw up and i have to manually scroll down to see what i've typed while i'm typing. that's quite annoying!
the forums also dont seem to keep track of posts i've read very well. i can post a post in a thread that i've already read and back out of the thread and forum and it will show that i still have messages to read. the little icon will be blue. this doesnt always happen, but it happens enough.
posts which i havent read are not turned blue and it's become harder to keep track of what i've read and not read.
i'm using i.e. 8 and it's generally worked pretty well. but now, it's getting a bit sloppy.
right here is about where the scroll thing starts to mess up. this line so far is ok, but i'm guessing it's going to get worse real soon.
yeah, now it's messing up. when i hit the return on the last line it acted as if i'd hit the space key and the cursor just moved over one space instead of skipping to the next line.
and now it's actually scrolling up and down as i type this line. quite annoying! If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

I can confirm these issues. Also I'm experiencing weird behavior with attached images - when I click them I get both a new window and some sort of embedded pop up (I don't have any fancy browser addons). I use latest chrome browser.
Quote link only works in IE: you can click the quote button to get the quote markup, but the function that automatically quotes the selected text and inserts with author name is not working, hence all the unreferenced quotes.

I checked Firefox, chrome and ie8.
In chrome quoting is broken.
In ie 8 sometimes page freezes while scaling images.
long comment works in ie8.

+4 All these things started happening when FF changed over to their new server. Nothing should have changed at all in the transfer....but seems that something got screwed up and caused all these problems. I'm sure fixing these problems is quite low on FF's priority list....and probably won't ever get fixed. All I know is that I'm still distraught over those three replacement smilies that don't go with the rest.... Steve

oh, and is anyone else experiencing the saving of filters found on the forums? i see .ffxml on the forum and when i save it comes up only as an .xml. thus, i have to change it before i save it. kinda weird when it used to work just fine. Yup.... alot of little things are screwed up in the forum now....
1) filters won't open directly from forum
2) quotes still screwed up
3) unremovable spaces in typing
4) Type box won't scroll with typing
5) posted images getting stretched
6) ....and those damn replacement smilies are sucking my will to live....
Some code definitely got a bit screwed up when they transfered servers.... Steve

Hey Manifold.... These three smilies are "stand-out" replacements from the originals that went with the rest....not a big deal by any means....but some of us long-time 'Forgers' were traumatized by the abrupt change in smilie continuity..... ....and kinda makes the forum feel like it's operating on quick 'patchwork' fixes..... Hi -- I'm back fr om being traumatized by Windows 7. This isn't worth a whole thread on its own, so I'm tacking it here because the last couple of weeks has been about me trying to get back my little smilies I missed from Vista, metaphorically speaking.
Yes, Windows 7 is more stable than Vista, but I've had to spend my days Googling how to fix it up the way I want. I have everything the way I want it except one major thing, and Google hasn't helped me at all, so I thought I'd post my problem at a couple places wh ere the computer gurus hang out in the hopes somebody knows the answer.
I need a black background for Windows Explorer Slideshow and it is showing white! Slideshow is a function and part of Windows Explorer - regular Explorer, the file management thingie that comes with windows, not a separate program or anything. You click on a file in a folder and it starts showing you all the graphics files. It's ALWAYS been a black background for the slideshow, but now my .png files are showing up with a white background, and it's unusable for my use (searching for little out of place pixels in raster graphics).
It's a hard thing to Google because Explorer also brings up internet explorer, and slideshow brings up a lot of miscellaneous add on programs. I have spent the better part of a week trying different things, but nothing is working.
Fingers crossed,
Suzy

are you talking about the button on the menu bar that says 'slideshow' or are you talking about windows photo viewer or did you mean the desktop slideshow in your desktop image? i'll assume the former for now. mine is black. i dont see any settings for changing the background. are you clicking on 'slideshow' in the menu bar when you have a picture folder selected or are you right clicking on a folder and picking something from a menu list?
on my win7 machine, i have corel viewer installed, so when i double click on a folder, it defaults to that slideshow shower. but, if i pick 'slideshow' from the windows explorer menu bar, then i get the full screen black background with my images overlaying that. if i right click a pic folder and hit 'preview', then i get the windows photo viewer.
so, what'cha got? what'cha doin? If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

It's the former. LOL! I didn't realize there were so many choices.
I used to click on a .png image inside a folder, and the slideshow would start from that point and go forward and loop. Now I click on an image and it starts from the first image in the folder and now each transparent .png has a white background. I can live with it starting from the beginning, but I can't live with the white bg.
Yes, I am clicking on 'slideshow' in the menu bar when you have a picture [in a folder] folder selected.
There is nothing in the right click than changes the color.
I am only talking about .png files...do you have a black BG on those?

wait, it's changing the background of your actual image or just changing the canvas of the slideshow? if it's changing the background of the image, then i'm guessing you have partial transparencies in your .png's and didnt save them with an alpha transparency, in which case this wouldnt be a windows slideshow problem. but if you are talking about the slideshow canvas, then i've no idea how to change that. like i said, mine is black and i would expect most folk's are too. if yours is white and you just upgraded fr om vista, i'd say a bit got set wrong somewhere.
i dont know wh ere that slideshow file is stored, but there might be a chance that there's something like a .config or .ini file within that you could open up and change the color, but that's just a wish and a hope.
so, good luck. maybe someone else knows the answer. If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

You've helped a lot just by telling me that you have a black background for your .pngs -- it gives me hope. I probably just need the right search string of words at Google.
Thanks!
