I've emailed support but they havent replied, so I'm asking those on the forum who may know.

I've been away for a couple of weeks but now that I'm back I want to buy FF but need to know if I will be able to use it on both my PC and iMac. It will be easier if I can because I have different versions of Photoshop on each with different filters I've bought in the past, so some projects are completed on one in preference to another. It would make things simpler if I can therefore run FF on both machines.

One of the biggest drawbacks to FF is that you can use it only on ONE computer.

This has created issues in the past because it meant i would need to close the file i'm working on in PS5, copy it to a thumb drive, take it to the older macbook pro and use FF in PS4. If you happen to be a working professional with computers at different locations this gets to be old and tiresome very quickly.

Recently i purchased the full versions of both Nik and OnOne software and those come standard with validation on two machines. Furthermore, OnOne will validate your license on three machines if you simply ask them. I'm not sure if Nik will do this because i haven't asked yet.

I've been a supporter of FF since the beginning, having paid up front pre-release of version 1.0 and think its pretty KEWL, but this one machine policy is preventing me from shelling out any more cash for updates/upgrades.

Thanks for the heads up on this speedie.

You're right. That's a real pain in the neck and means I'll have to decide which machine its best to put it on.

I got an email fr om support confirming that each license is for one computer only meaning I'll only put it on one machine. Personally I agree with speedie and think that each license should really cover two machines as quite often users will have a main PC and a laptop but hey, I suppose they need to eat smile:)

At least I'm buying it and not going to over to Demonoid wh ere a cracked copy is available smile:)

i like the 3 computer use or the one user use licensing.

if you want to see vladimir's comments on this, there is another thread where he talks about this. you'll have to do a search for it, though. i dont know where it is.
If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

Given that developers of high-end professional software realize that so many of their paying customers have multiple machines and allow for that reality, it makes FF's policy of one machine seem so very provincial. I wish FF would wake up on this one and smell the coffee.

William also raises a relevant point. The one machine policy may be driving some users into the crack zone. I would never do it, but i'm sure this kind of blowback is aggravated by that executive decision. Is this really the scenario FF wants to create?

I prefer dongles. It makes me feel like I own something, plus they really work.
