Now, I haven't submitted any filters for a long time, so I didn't know about this (and didn't see it coming, as it was not announced anywhere): Why are filter images rendered on the client system rather than the FF server, as it used to be? This is very annoying!
While I can see the benefit of this procedure forcing people to submit fast-rendering filters as well as relieving FF Inc. fr om maintaining a rendering server, it also forces a rather unpleasant experience on authors of more complex filters. Furthermore, this process is trying the patience and good will of all filter contributors to the lim its. Submitting filter updates from my rather low-end internet machine (my workstation is never connected to the internet for security reasons) is now officially a royal PITA, and submitting complex filters has become completely unthinkable! ![]() Absolutely not the way to go, IMHO! ![]() --- Crapadilla says: "Damn you, stupid redundant feature requests!" ;) |

Dilla: what is even worse (on Mac OS X anyway) is that if you hide FF out of the way when it is spending time rendering to do something else, the send process is silently interrupted when you bring it back so you have to do it all over again, that is really hurting

So when did this 'client rendering madness' start? Beta 2 stage 1?

Stage 2 I guess, when submitting to the library was accepted.

Hi,
I'm new to creating filters, though I've used Filter Forge Basic for a few years. I'm concerned about this issue you've raised. Do you mean that a filter that I view will be rendered using my computer? I hope you don't mean that my computer is somehow linked to any filters I upload and my resources will be used when someone else views it on the the Filter Forge site. Fran

Don’t give them any ideas ![]() But no, Crapadilla is referring to the filter submission process, wherein the task of rendering for the presets has been offloaded to the users. @ronviers |

The sort of thing where you set it to go, then go make dinner while it renders your presets.
