Quality 2.0 filters seem pretty few and far between so far.

With Basic I have to wait for others to come up with filters, no problem with that, it's just that the library doesn't seem to have many quality 2.0 filters at the moment, so why upgrade? If I had the cash I'd probably go for Pro right now.

I would have thought that the Filter Forge people at least would have been hard at work creating new filters, or got other talented filter creators to get going on 2.0 to beef up the library to convince users to upgrade.

I know it's early days yet, but what do others think?

True smile:) ........... you know the story, there is no incentive for authors and many feel that there work is exploited by third parties, seems simple FF has to either step up there own filter building or reward authors beyond more copies of the program, who then, I would think not care about third parties exploiting there work as much. smile:)

Probably your best reason to upgrade now is the changes that are being made to the Filter Forge program itself. If you do make any of your own filters, then Version 2.0 has many more components to use. Also the Filter library seems to be growing at over 2,000 filters per year. I have owned Filter Forge for just over 2 years and at the time I bought it, the Filter library was just over 2,200 filters.
Just some food for thought.

Another bit of info: the Basic edition of FF2.0 will include lighting improvements (most notably, Ambient Occlusion and Point/Area Lights), which will work with filters made for FF1.0 -- a filter is not required to be made in v2.0 to take advantage of the new lighting options.

I think that it normal that we dont have tons of 2.0 filters now
The program is not released yet ..and i have a feeling we will see a Huge wave of filters as soon as its released.
I can say this about upgrading its worth the money to go for PRO !
And lets say we get as many 2.0 filters as we have 1.0 filter..
thats 14.000 filtersin total ..
THATS WORTH THE MONEY FOR SURE smile:D

I think that just now there are many new 2.0 filter that are really great and awesome and that I like them very much, and are worth the upgrade to 2.0, specially at the reduced price offer.

I did not doubt to upgrade looking at all the new features that will be included and the great potential they have, and looking what can be done with the beta version, I ams sure that like BAR-CODE have said, that we will see soon a huge wave of filters that will blow us out and leave breathless with the results that you could get.

Will you wait until seeing future filters and pay much more for the upgrade, or you want to pay less and upgrade now with the good offer.

Yes, perhaps will be more offers in the future, but I prefer to be sure now, and surely it is worth the money even if you only use FF for filters and do not make any yourself.

But must hurry up as they said that it would be released in June, and today is 29 so must preorder NOW !!! smile;)

Interestingly another node based texture generator has just been released at a price of $2,995US - nowhere near as good as FF, alot harder to use and the learning curve is steeper [ the only good thing is you can import vectors ]. FF is actually too cheap in price in my opion, maybe in the future FF will adjust there price up as all there near competitor are more exspensive smile;) smile:)

Substance Designer, the new allegorithmic version [ previously Mapzone ], it not with out merrit and has some good thing FF doesn't, but FF nodes are far easier to use. For me $3580 Aud, slightly more expensive than FF smile;) smile:)
