For all of You that are trying to download any filter's from the library and Your are being told that you must have the latest version of 1.020 in able to do so, SAY NO!!! THE LATEST VERSION OF 1.020 WILL NOT RUN ON AN XP COMPUTER
![]() ![]() And just to make sure that it wasn't just my computer, to turned to my wife's XP computer, that has never had Filter Forge on it at all!!! Went to Filter Forge Web Set, download their latest trail version on to Her computer, which was 1.020 and after installing it, IT WOULD EVEN OPEN UP AT ALL!!!! So Filter Forge, If you can not even get your original version of Filter Forge up-dates to work, WHY WOULD YOU THINK ANYONE IS GOING TO UP-GRADE TO YOUR NEWEST BETA VERSION 2.0?????? Now what in the H..L are we suppose to DO????? Brent in California That is to say the least, Is NOT VERY HAPPY ABOUT THIS!!! |

Mine is broken, too. When I clicked on Filter Forge from the Filters menu in Photoshop, I got a prompt to download a new version; I did, and now filter forge won't load at all.
I thought at first it was because my system was simply going insane at the time with things iTunes hiccuping and filter forge not opening and error messages popping up... but apparently not. I rebooted and that hasn't helped a bit. I've sent an email to contact for helllllllp and filled out the bug report form that also popped up while the system was going wonky. Any advice appreciated... I've got my source disk, and just recently updated to Pro, so I know at worst I just have to reinstall, but that sounds like an awful pita if the filters I've downloaded also disappear. Thanks! |

Hello both of you....Don't know what version of XP you have but I have been running FF and Xp happy together for years...Heres a screen of the new version running...Also verion2 works just as good..
Perhaps its a service pack thing that messes FF up.. Its always best to use the "Contact tab" and ask FF what is up rather then flame the boards....IMHO Myself I had no issues updating to the latest version..I uninstalled 1.19 and downloaded the installer exe for the new release and installed it....I still had my filters and the filters that I downloaded....... ![]() Stupid things happen to computers for stupid reasons at stupid times! |

Well there are ways to back up those filters before you install..(just in case) ![]() Heres the threads with that info.. http://www.filterforge.com/forum/read...5&TID=7164 Heres another thing to read also thats good to know when downloading fiters...Or you can use the built-in downloader for FF..... http://www.filterforge.com/forum/read...5&TID=7096 http://www.filterforge.com/forum/sear...FORUM_ID=0 Then the location for your FF folder in windows is C:\Documents and Settings\your user name\Application Data\Filter Forge I usually back up the entire folder since I have some other things in there as well.. I don't know for sure but the plug-in may not have updated with Photoshop opened..(Just a guess on that)..I always have all those apps closed when updating to make sure the plug-ins are installed.... If not you can find the plug-in here C:\Program Files\Filter Forge\Plugin Take that and copy paste the items into your apps plug-ins folder... Thanks very much for the advice CFandM! I've been running Filter Forge happily with XP for a few weeks now; it was just this upgrade that suddently everything didn't work anymore. I'll read the threads you suggest before I do anything, tho.

I have the same problem. XP, with PSP, and I've been using FF for a few years now. After the update -- and I tried to update a couple times -- FF doesn't work, either as a standalone or as the PSP plugin. FF shows up in my task manager, with my CPU running at 100%. Nothing happens, so I cancel out the program. In PSP, I get a "plugin passed bad parameters" error message after canceling in the task manager.
I ended up running the prior update that's saved in the Updates folder, and FF works again. But I can't download any new filters. I have updates in that folder going back to Feb 2008, and this is the first time I've ever had this kind of problem. The 1.020 .exe file didn't show up in the Updates folder with all the others, though. Don't know if that's significant. I forgot to mention that when I reported the problem via the contact form. i've seen various versions take a VERY long time to initiate. you may see it in the task manager but not see it on the desktop running. i cant say that this is what's going on with all of you, but try waiting. yup, just wait. this can be especially true if you have a TON of filters already in your folders. i've had to wait more than 15 minutes at least one time before the program would finally show up on the desktop. and, this is ONLY the first running after an installation. it shld run normally after that.
but again, i dont know that this is any of your's cases, but maybe it will help a couple of you. If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

This seems to be a problem with the loader, not with Filter Forge itself. Please try to run '\Filter Forge\Bin\Filter Forge x86-SSE2.exe'.

Everyone experiencing problems: please report your exact Windows version (look at the System properties windows or type 'ver' in the command line).

We've uploaded a hotfix that should eliminate the issue. Please re-download Filter Forge 1.020 from the download page.
