Purchasing v.1 to use Beta 2? Confused...

If you buy v1 Basic Edition, you will get a free key for v2 Basic Edition BETA. It won't expire until we release the commercial 2.0.

v1 and v2 have different local filter storages. You will need to migrate your downloaded filters or redownload them in the other FF version. Note that this applies only to library filters: the ones you create yourself in v2 won't work in v1.

Yes: you'll need to copy the ffxml files between '/Users/UserName/Library/Application Support/Filter Forge 2/System/Library' and '/Users/UserName/Library/Application Support/Filter Forge/System/Library'.

I copied the ffxml files from '/Users/UserName/Library/Application Support/Filter Forge 2/System/Library' to '/Users/UserName/Library/Application Support/Filter Forge/System/Library'.

Now there are no filters showing in Filter Forge 1.

Sorry, which permissions? On each filter? What do I do? What should the permissions be?

OK, let me make sure I understand what I'm supposed to do to get all the filters that I downloaded using the Beta 2 into the 1.0 version:

I did this: I copied the ffxml files from '/Users/UserName/Library/Application Support/Filter Forge 2/System/Library' to '/Users/UserName/Library/Application Support/Filter Forge/System/Library'. It overwrote the filters that were already there that were included in the download of 1.0. Was I not supposed to do that? Then there were no filters showing in version 1. I had to reinstall it to get the filters back, but of course I still don't have any of the filters I downloaded in Beta 2.

I didn't copy anything else. Was I supposed to copy some other file? Some other xml file?

Also, how do I get presets I saved out in Beta 2 to be available in Version 1?

I guess I could keep using Beta 2 until the demo expires (I got the key) and the commercial version is released, but if it is something I don't want to upgrade to at that moment, I'd like to be able to still use the filters in version 1.

Unfortunately that didn't make any difference.

It seems that there is no backward compatibility. Filters I downloaded with Beta 2 do not open in Version 1.

Examples:

I launch Version 1. Since I still have a bunch of filters in the library that I copied from Beta 2, it will give me a message each time I start FF: "Cannot load 'Library_1108-1.ffxml' - you need Filter Forge 2.0 to open this filter. Download the latest 2.0 version? (Yes/No)"

I click "No" since I already downloaded it. Then I'm presented only with the filters that came with my Version 1 program download (I also ordered the DVD...maybe that'll have more of them, I hope..l.it'll take a while to receive it by mail) If I remove filter 1108-1.ffxml from my Library, the next time I launch FF Vesion 1, I'll get the same message, but for a different filter #.

Then, if I launch FF V. 1, double-click on a filter in its library from the desktop that was copied from beta 2, I'll get the same message for that specific filter.

Now if I go to the list of filters on this website, and with Version 1 open download a filter, it will launch in Version 1 just fine. But it doesn't work from ones I copied over.

I don't think it has to do with permissions...I think once a filter is opened into Beta 2, it cannot then be copied over to the Version 1 library and be expected to come up.

Anyway, that's been my experience thus far.
