I'm feeling like a total tard because I don't really do this all the time. I a newb to FF, and I have no idea how much FF will do the effect used for the corrugated steel text located here: http://www.filterforge.com/filters/2140.html.
If anybody can point in the right direction, I'd really appreciate that. USAGE: I want to use the same texture for some packaging design, so I'll need a hi-res version. |

not quite sure what you mean here. do the effect? that is the effect. it renders that out at whatever resolution you set up. in the 'file' menu, just pick 'new image' and set the parameters of the image size you want and that's what the program will do. to see the true version, go to 'view' and pick 'actual', though, or you'll only see the smaller resolution. If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

thanks Craig.
Playing around with the plug-in, it looked like it was just a texture filter vs. the actual 3d rendering of the corrugated steel.... like I said i'm new to FF (I just didn't realize the extent of it's capabilities). You've been a big help, and I'll try that out. |

FF produces two different broad types of results. it produces 'textures' and it produces 'effects'. textures are images that generally stand alone with no help from another image. it's like the corrugated steel filter. that's a texture filter. effect filters rely on imported images to work. those filters apply an effect to another image. a lighting filter would be an example of an effect filter. it would apply lighting to an existing image.
FF also works as a stand-alone program, needing no other program to work, or as a plug-in to any photoshop compatible plug-in program, like photoshop or paint shop pro and can be called up from within those programs. If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!
