I would like to buy this filter while it is on sale. Does it work with Vista? Does it work with CS3 or CS4? Does it work on a 64 bit computer? Are there any conflicts with any of the standard graphics programs like ZBrush, Bodypaint, poser, Daz Studio? I basically want it to generate textures for applying to 3d models. I can do that, right? And the library that I get access to, can I use those to apply to my models as well. I'm not professional. Just learning to make things for my own enjoyment now. I think I read that it is basically a standalone with just import and export to Photoshop. Also, I'm not sure I understand what the difference is between the stand and pro. I see the differences. But what does 16 and 32 (was it bit) mean? Do I need that for what I want to do?
Thanks. |

Don't know if some of this will help you
http://www.filterforge.com/download/requirements.html http://www.filterforge.com/download/hosts.html and other difference between standard and pro is with pro you can do bump, defuse, normal and other maps. Others probably can help you out more with the should you buy this one or that one ![]() Nothing wrong with a little insanity ;)

i'd suggest you download the demo and try it out. that will answer a lot of your questions.

Nope, no conflicts: you can render maps right out and bring them into the app of your choice. If you poke around the forums there are lots of test renders people have done. Zbrush + FF is a pretty awesome combo, IMHO. (Although be careful going from Zapplink --> Pshop --> Filter Forge. It crashes when I do that. If I'm editing filters in FF I ALWAYS shut down Pshop first and open FF on it's own. Running filters is no problem, just don't edit them from Pshop) If you want to render maps, you'll need the FF pro version. |

Surely.
We are not aware of any conflicts like this. If you encounter a problem, please let us know.

Yes, you get access to 5500+ filters, roughly half of them are texture filters. You can render any of these and use for your needs.
Not really. The plugin gets installed in the 'Filter' menu in Photoshop, and can be used to apply effects to the currently opened image. Or you can use the standalone application independently.
This means support for EXR and PFM image formats. If you have never used them, I think you don't really need them just now. You can always upgrade to Professional edition later. |
