Hello All,
can somebody tell me if it is possible to create OpenEXR (.exr) and Portable Float Map (.pfm). files from pictures in .jpg format? If yes, how to proceed? My goal is to make new lighting environment from my photos. Thanks and best regards to all. Aminique. |

You could just save your photos as EXR files from within your image-editing application of choice (provided that the app supports EXR, of course).

take any .jpg and simply manually change the .jpg to .exr. in filter forge there is an import .exr menu item. click on that and it will allow you to import your .jpg-now .exr into a lighting environment.
but, be aware, this a VERY slow process. i forget the recommended image size, but it was either 200 x 400 pixels or 400 x 200, i think. and even that's going to take 10 or 15 minutes. larger sizes take a LOT longer. there are other threads that talk about this, so do a search. If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!
