i was looking at plugsnpixels recent post ( http://www.plugsandpixels.com/galleryfilterforge.html ) regarding a gallery of filter forge filters and it occurred to me, more than anywhere else, that one simple gallery showcasing some of the better effect filters applied to the same image, does more to promote FF than most other things i've seen. when you can get a side by side comparison and display of various filters like that, it really does showcase the various filters and FF.

so, several things here, vladimir, i know we've talked about gallery space for authors before. i'd like to take that a step further. what if there were a feature in FF that allowed for direct uploading of rendered results straight to a web page gallery space for an author?

and, what if that gallery space were set at a base megabyte capacity for each author? and, what if one could increase that gallery space by spending reward points?

and, what if that author gallery had piclens embedded in it?

and, what if that gallery space were also a web store for authors?

FF wins by having a large database of rendered images showing off the filters. the authors win by being able to truly showcase their filters and thereby earn more reward points and the authors win again by being able to sell their filters or their textures/effects. and, if the gallery was directly linked to FF such that one could render and 'save as and to the gallery', this would be a real boon. you'd have no limit on image sizes except as far as one's capacity within the gallery.

ok, i know the web store may be a bit of a pipe dream for now, but it's not a bad idea.

We are working on a gallery. I even allocated a top-level tab in the site navigation menu for it, so it will get good visibility. The authors will be able to submit their work. Piclens will be supported -- this is easy and we already have the code. I think there will be no web space limit (we'll introduce it when it becomes necessary).

Will that be one single gallery showcasing the collective work of all authors, or will there be author-specific or even filter-specific galleries?

Dilla, the front page of the gallery will show works with Editor's Picks by all authors (yes, there will be EdPicks for gallery works too), newer works will be shown first.

Author specific pages aren't a problem -- this can be done easily, the same way this is done for filters.

I didn't plan filter-specific galleries, but it sounds good -- thanks for the idea! Each submitted work has filters associated with it, so technically showing all works for a given filter on a single page is not a problem. Also, we can include a link to such galleries from filter pages (maybe even show some thumbnails as examples, if space permits).

That, and he appears to be under the impression that people who had their head lopped off by a razor-sharp two-hander ages ago should - nevertheless - still be able to walk around, talk and even formulate ideas... smile;) smile:D

eeewwww, a steviej voodoo doll! i want one for christmas! smile:D smile:dgrin:

it's all in the timing, steve smile;)

actually, i wasnt trying to rip off your idea. i did remember there had been a bit of discussion on this. i was just too lazy to find the original thread. but, i also was thinking that the way i presented it was a bit different. i got the idea while rendering images in FF recently and thinking, 'why do i have to render in FF, save as, open psp, adjust file size, save as, open browser, go to FF, log in, go to thread or start one, and then finally post my image'. that just seemed a long route. why not just render in FF save as directly to an FF gallery or thread? that would be so much simpler.

so, wasnt trying to rip off your idea, just amending it for my needs in a new unit of time.

It's the gift that keeps on giving..... smile:| ..... smile:dgrin:

I'm just fooling around about the credit for the idea.....I would like to see it implemented though..... smile;) smile:)

I'm kinda confused by Vlad's post.....because Bella had previously posted back along that they were developing the filter galleries to turn each filter into it's own little website..... smile:|
