I have just read a lot of stuff about how people can't wait for FF V.2 . I just wanted to come out and say I can wait. I think FF V.1 or whatever it currently is, is more than sufficient and most Filter Forgers still have not untapped all of its potential. (I am definetly included in this list)
An example of why I can wait is V.2 profers the ability to make geometric shapes such as pentagons, hexagons, triangles, etc. Well we already have that feature because of UberZev.
So though Genetica is coming with a new version it still holds no appeal to me because I still think FF blows it out of the water. Also my final point, Genetica V.3 $700-$900. Filter Forge with a life time of updates to newer version, a few hours of play in the inner workings of FF.
What say you?

----FF needs fixin', and they aren't gonna get that new code to fix the resource leak til V2 they said no ? Let alone add any new features. That said, of course there's lots left to be done with V1. We're all just used to (ie = spoiled with) nearly constant updates with software these days, at least with shareware/nonboxed apps. I'd prefer they did bigger updates than they have so far, but even if FF shuts it's doors tomorrow, I'ma still use the program for a while, so yeah, V1 is still enough to have fun with.

Bump
Does anyone from the FF staff want to show off a teaser screenshot or drop a hint about a new feature?
I just need a morsel to hold me over, otherwise I may be forced to cross over to the darkside.

cool stuff that might get into a major future version: soft shadows for surface type filters, better support for color management (this one actually might slip into 1.x, but I'm not sure enough for now), metacomponents (a tree of components represented as a single component), bomber components and a lot more |
Does that help a little??? Steve

Will the FF V.2 be compatible with Paint shop Pro 9? Like the current version is or is it too soon to know that kind of information? Nothing wrong with a little insanity ;)

Hi Belira, if it's supports it now it will remain compatible and the list of compatible programs would grow too in future version I would imagine

It's compatible with : Adobe Photoshop 6.0, 7.0, CS, CS2 and CS3
Adobe Photoshop Elements 2.0, 3.0, 4.0, 5.0 and 6.0
Corel Painter 8 and IX
Corel PHOTO-PAINT 10, 11, 12, X3 and X4
Corel Paint Shop Pro X and XI
Jasc Paint Shop Pro 8, 9
Ulead PhotoImpact 11, 12
You might be wright, I just remember some one posting asking whether it was compatible with gimp or PSP XII and it wasn't so I presume there are other non-compatable applications at the moment which would change in the future - I stand corrected if this is wrong - maybe an offical word

Well, I know that FF won't run on Gimp because it is based on the Framework 2.0 platform..... Steve

Sorry Uber -- no screenshots yet. The work we're doing at the moment is not something you can show off easily, it's mostly hidden deep inside the engine. As for hints, see onyXMaster's post above.

Aaah when I read the compatibility info I had seen the psp9 part but nothing about the later ones, but knowing me I only read up to the part that mentioned the version I have .
Mind that now means I need to save for FF and the new psp. Nothing wrong with a little insanity ;)
