Hi Guys - I have just submitted my first attempted filter creations and much to my surprise had them accepted.

I have read somewhere within the forums that it can help if you promote them yourself - so the question is - How does one go about promoting their filters within the forums and which forum to do it on.

I ask this as i only have 4 more weeks to try and achive reward points.

All help much appreciated - Mikita

yes, it can help a bit, though maybe not as much as we think at times. but, with new folks showing up in the forums, it certainly cant hurt.

the best way to promote a submitted filter is in the 'comments on filters' forum. but, to do that best, go first to 'Filters' at the top of your browser and find your filter in the library. then, over on the right, you shld see a line with 'comments' written there. it will also have a number in parentheses next to it, like "comments (0)". the whole is a link. if the number is 0 that means no one has commented on it yet. just hit the 'comments' line and it will post your filter into the right forum where others can then post replies. if the number is greater than 0, then it's already listed in the forums and you can simply go there and post a reply.

I was in your shoes about 9 months ago Mikita when I was so nervous and anxious to get a High Usage. So I tried all the tricks of getting a High Usage filter (HU), but in the end this is what I have found all the filters I promoted the most seemed to actually move the slowest. So my suggestion is this, instead of going for promotion ask for critique, that way you can improve a filter and find out what the public wants and would use and then you also get publicity as it stays a topic of discussion.

With that said, if you are going for HU filters, textures seem to be the bread winner. But my personal advice is go for what you like to do, I made a hamburger filter just because I could and it looked fun and I had a forum member actually offer me some HU points if I didn't get the coveted 5 I wanted. So there are some tricks, I guess, but just have fun and always seek learning.

P.S. Welcom
