I've got about 19 days left to mess around on FF and I've submitted 3 filters so far.
What happens if I cant submit a filter that becomes popular? This worries me because I do like FF and everyone on this forum
If I had more time I would be able to create some really good stuff... Visit myspace.com/illuminiproject to hear my music

You can get a 30 day extension by requesting it usually. After that, you might wanna just keep hitting the forums and kind of reminding people to check out your filters, cause it can and often does, take more than 60 days to get 3 HU's.

FF will give you two 30-day extensions if you ask them nicely.....for a total of 90 days of non-stop filter production to get those 3 HUs...... LOL....
I would suggest taking a good look at what has become HU and use some of the concepts towards your own ideas. It doesn't have to be anything fancy for construction.....there are four-component filters that will get HU.....just have to put some thought into concepts that users will gobble up..... Steve

Yeah thanx guys. I'll look at what's popular and try to fit that criteria. At the same time though, I wanna be individual
So how do I spread the word about my filters? Visit myspace.com/illuminiproject to hear my music

It doesn't hurt to improve/fine tune/enhance/add new controls etc with the filters you've already submitted and resubmit so they are in the public eye again as most people watch the recent submits - add examples to the filter thread - bump your own threads - real world textures are always popular and very likely to go high - interesting photo effects that are new go well also. By being visible around the forums people might click on your filters link to see what you've done. And as Steve says they don't have to be complex - ease of use, fast rendering, controls that mean what they say.............. wow I'm going to have to try these things myself

----Something we had all done before, but that Stevie really took to the extreme ha-ha, was like Carl mentioned, posting examples before/after, in the forums (or in the case of textures, show them being used in a scene or some alternative ones that didn't make it into the presets). And also like Carl said, another great and usually fairly easy way to get your filters seen again, is to update them, add a new feature, make them faster or do what they already did better.

LOL..... Well, I've learned that you can also waste alot of time and energy trying to plug and sample them.....alot that got the "treatment" went LU.....and many more went HU that got no attention at all. Users seems to "catch on" to the "usefulness" of a filter no matter what you do to it.....but I'm sure some plugging and samples doesn't hurt.....

You don't have to.....just make them useful, maybe add a few sample pics, and they will come..... Steve

I'm in the process of getting Maya so soon I should be able to work some serious magic with what I create and show the potential of my work.

Yeah I could do this easily considering I'm learning more each day

That's easy enough. Just need more time I suppose...
Hmm, see this is the problem: I'm a music producer by heart but I do love my graphics so I kinda work on my music then go to the graphics later or when I get writers block.
It's great to get away from the music from time to time and FF is the only thing capable of keeping me amused as much.
So if I managed to get an extension on the deadline then that would work perfectly.
Btw, I'm submitting a whole batch of new filters soon (I'll put up previews 1st) Visit myspace.com/illuminiproject to hear my music

Well, I would suggest doing something that "you" would find useful and thus enjoyable to construct. You can look at other filter constructions if you get stuck on a concept.....or just ask for help in the Forum and I'm sure you will get it..... Steve

What happens after the trial period is up??? |
well, there's usually a verdict, sentencing and then an execution of your computer (all M$ computers are guilty, so the trial, verdict and sentencing are always the same). If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

Yeah that's cool. I like working from a blank canvas and working my way up to a finished result so themes or concepts don't bother me at the moment. I'll worry about that later when I get the "experimental" out of me

Sweet, nice to know you can ask for an extension to the trial period. Only heard about Filter Forge recently, so downloaded it the other day for a look. Kinda addictive though seeing what you can create from the basics. Nothing wrong with a little insanity ;)

Ssshh don't . Seem to be collecting addictions like a new hobby, and filter tweaking so far is a major time killer... but very interesting in what you can end up with (other than eye strain and sleep deprivation that is).
Currently working on a new filter though with a fraction of controls , so much to learn and figure out! Nothing wrong with a little insanity ;)
