Yes, we've released Update 1.011:
http://www.filterforge.com/more/news/986.html The update fixes several resource leaks, so I encourage everyone who experienced slowdowns and crashes during long Editor sessions to download this update and give it good run. |

Very cool on the update.
![]() After the update, I did attempt to put a "resource leak" (as I encounter it) problem to a test, and it did, sort of still fail. (That is, while editing/creating a filter, after a long while of time, where I also had my Windows Media Player play a CD from my disk drive (to suck up more RAM), I still ran into problems where the filter I was working on ran into the resource-leak bug where my filter was destroyed to a 0 kb file...) The problem/error seemed to occur when, while in the Editor, when I clicked on the "save" option... (But, uhh, I'm totally a fan of Filter Forge -- where I'm just responding to give some feedback. I.e. where "fuck it", there still seems to be an annoying resource leak somewhere...(?) -- but, where, meanwhile the program still seems to work nicely when using it to work normally with library filters...) |

I told the guys they shouldn't be excited about the leaks they found, since I was 99% sure it's not THAT leak, and it turns out I was right

so far, no crashes, but only one looong editing session since the new version. and i confirm that most of my crashes in the recent past come when you hit 'save'.

That still exsists in the update. I had it happen today. Hitting the save after FF was getting sluggish resulting in a crash..The old resources bug.. ![]() ![]() Stupid things happen to computers for stupid reasons at stupid times! |

Thats funny it's not one of the problems I have, I wonder if your cpu power effects this

This bug tends to manifest itself _much_ more often on multicore/multi-CPU machines (due to its roots laying in wrong inter-thread synchronization), so, yes, the CPU "power" affects this

GM Syndicate, try downloading filters. that will trigger the update mechanism. that's how i updated mine. it will start the download and trigger a new install shield to pop up while it shuts down FF. once the update is completely installed you can then start FF again.

GM,
I have a Core 2 duo and couldn't update using the FF updater. To update, I downloaded and installed the newest FF exe. http://www.filterforge.com/download/ Terri |

The 0x000002E4 error is specific to Windows Vista and is triggered by the restricted security stuff (UAC/elevation/etc.).
As far as I know, it was fixed in the 1.011, but the 1.010 cannot update automatically since it still contains broken code. If you tried to update, but stumbled upon the 0x000002E4 error, try going to "%APPDATA%\Filter Forge\Updates" folder (you can paste the quoted text with quotes into the Start->Run... box, and run the update manually. If the update file is not there, you always can download the latest version from the site (see Download tab above) which will happily update your installed version ![]() |
