Hi guys, I had a thought a while back and figured I'd make a quick topic to ask and see what I could do. From what I understand some of the authors have not been releasing their filters, and I totally understand why:
-Releasing a filter on filterforge does run the risk that the images generated become very popular and generic because of this. -People might be using FF for texture productions in their game and want to keep the look unique so they can't share the filters because then everyone and their brother will have those textures in game. -Perhaps they even use FF to generate textures and are trying to make a profit by selling rendered textures. This is all fine and totally acceptable and I have no problem with people doing this, but I was just wondering if anyone might be willing to share their filters on a smaller scale. I'm making a **top secret unreleased** video game mod and plan on making extensive use of the awesome filter forge stuff already out there, but I just wanted to see if I might be able to strike a deal with anyone that might be keeping some goodies to themselves. I don't really know what I could offer, I'd gladly give credit to anyone and would be open to discuss other ideas too. We don't have much of a budget really (none really, even our server is donated) because our game will be a free mod when released, but I might be willing to throw a few bucks out there for kicks. Anyhow, I wasn't sure if I'd get any responses but I figured I may as well try! I'd love to let you guys in on some more juicy details of the game but we're keeping it under tight wraps for now, maybe later I'll be able to share some cool concept art or something. Speaking of which I'm totally gonna start hit you guys up with some texture challenges! I'll have to think of making it fun do a contest or something. I dunno, any ideas? |

Well, if it's an online mod version of Armored Core with all kinds of cool battle worlds, mechs, weapons, interchangeable parts, levels, stat schemes, etc. and set up similar to "World of Warcraft" online.....then I'll give you anything and everything you want for a piece of the action.....

Heh, well I can say it's not a MMORPG, so sorry to disappoint! It's gonna be a sweet FPS game with a unique twist to it. And plenty of battle worlds, weapons, parts and levels, just no RPG'ness. Here's a few concept pics:
![]() ![]() So yeah, LOTS of concrete, smoke and metal. Some cool Sci-Fi stuff, but an overall grungy feel. Stevie! You've gotta share some pics! Not the filters just some sweet previews! I'd love to see what you've got up your sleeve. |

Well, I have alot of "less-serious" experimentaion sample pics in the user gallery.....just go to the strings that I started and start scrolling.....and you will find that I haven't submitted any of the texture filters that go with any of the sample pics that I've ever posted. That stuff is just the "tip of the iceburg" to what I've created with this program..... ![]() I'm going to be submitting a series of about 20 filters pretty soon.....all of which I think you will like for this project......stay tuned..... ![]() ![]() Steve

Here's a cool example of where I'm using FF. I needed to create something that showed damage after it took a lot of hits, I used a modified version of Wartorn (http://www.filterforge.com/filters/1478.html) put a "health" slider and increased the hole size. I then cleared out the gaping holes in photoshop and blended some Gouged and Scarred (http://www.filterforge.com/filters/4531.html) After a quick color overlay I think I've got something pretty nice!

![]() Here's a cool gif of the damage layer progression. This is from 1024x1024 source images that equated to about 6 hours of rendering in FF ![]() |

6 hour is to long, you'd think with all the whizz bang technology they should be almost instantaneous

ah but it looks so purdy so I don't mind
I just wish there was some sorta batch dealio. I'm sure the FF guys are working on it so I won't nag. Here's a cool sneak peek at of one of the guys in our game http://img249.imageshack.us/img249/51...metgt0.jpg I guess I've sort of derailed my own thread, eh, I don't mind, hopefully someone's enjoying seeing this stuff |

----Huh, (that pic) reminds me of like a gawthy version of Toy Story, no offense meant. Cool that yer using FF heavily in the design/texturing though, and best of luck of course. ![]() jffe Filter Forger |

![]() Haha, I definitely see the resemblance! Usually the first comment I get from people is: "why is his head coming out of a toilet?". ![]() We're shooting for something a bit out of the box so we're sure to get some funny resemblances. FF is amazing- I've basically given up trying to manually make seamless pictures, it's usually easier to take a good FF filter and modify if needed, and the results are usually better anyhow! ![]() |
