I've been impressed recently by gazing at XScreensaver's Apple II module — for anyone who's seen it, it's quite a treat in motion: a simulated Apple II screen comes up, *not* perfectly pristine, but appearing as it would on an old NTSC monitor. There's some waviness, palette shifting, and some suitable static noise/distortion:

I think making one that emulates those sorts of classic computer effects (throw in amber PC DOS as a bonus!) would be awesome. Does anyone have any leads in this direction? I've done some pavement mosaic filters.....and some mazes have been done by Dilla and Garbonzo.....which are the closest things I could think of that come close to only the first one......
