The Filter Editor on a 30" cinema display: I could definitely see some room for improvement on the "left side of things", namely the Preview Window and the Settings area... smile;) smile:D smile:D smile:D

Apart from that, it's definitely very slick! smile:loveff:

Nice layout.....yeah, a one-click expansion of the preview area would be sweet.....so you wouldn't have to get out of the editor to get a good look at things.....

There should definitely be a way to resize the Preview Window and settings tab to accomodate for higher resolutions. The width in pixels appears to be hard-coded now, which is ummm... can I say 'sub-optimal'. smile;)

There was a draggable splitter at the edge of the preview window in the original UI layout (same goes for main window -- between the left pane and preview). It got scrapped (actually it might be postponed, Vlad should know better) because we ran in some problems with implementation which, while being solvable still was estimated to be too long for 1.x.

Please, Vladimir have you lost the list you wrote this in 2007 ?? smile:D

Because Is now 2011 and none of this have been included in Filter Forge, and there seems not to be on the list for FF 3.0

This was already suggested in June 2007 and in August 2011 is still not added to Filter Forge becuase there is no way to modify, enlarge, expand or customize any parts of the user interface, all is fix to one block, can´t have a separate preview window or any of the user interface panes and is only a whole window block, and only the whole window can be resized but not able to be dettached, seprate or resize any part.

And with a big monitor, 24 to 30 inch this is loosing much and is missing many things not being able to customize the user interface and make it bigger to you liking in a resizable options panes.

The FF team is making a great work with FF 3.0 BUT it seems that the FF team is focused in improving the features but do not care much to improve the user interface.

You will be able to resize the preview area and the filter control area in Beta 3 of FF3.0. The vertical separator (one that separates preview and controls from the filter construction area) and the horizontal separator (the one between the preview and filter controls) will become draggable.

Code-wise, this was a mess, so I'm afraid it won't be as polished as I would like it to be. Anyway, we'll see soon.

Regarding the focus on features vs UI / usability: our focus will inevitably shift towards UI improvements in future versions. Organizing filters (tagging, folders etc.) will be one of the top priorities.
