Hi all,

I've been playing quite a while with FF now and I have a weird problem. when I replace a value by a slider or intslider controler with the same exact value, the result inexplicably changes and i have real difficulty finding out the value corresponding to the same result. Is it a bug or am I still ignorant ? I guess I am but could you help me understand it please ? I tried to play with remappers but i can't figure it out how to effectively use them.

before you start adjusting remap parameters, note the actual control value.....then after setting parameters, use the control to bring it back to the original actual value again before saving......

I'm not sure you understand what I mean.
Say i have a parameter of 35. If I replace the "hard" parameter by a slider with a value of 35, the result is different. I find it to be really confusing and frustrating.

----Some modules have internal values of -100 to 100, like Gamma for instance. If you set Gamma for 25, then pull up a normal slider and set it 25 then plug it in, that is acually an internal value of -50, and of course it will not look the same at all. It's proportional mathematically, but kind of confusing I guess. To get that same 25 hard value with the normal slider, select *Use Remapping*, and set the *Minimum* value for 0 instead of -100, then that 25 on the slider will make your output look exactly the same as the internal value of 25 did. Hope that helps a bit.

Your best bet, is to just experiment a bit with the remapping, just to see what modules have 0 to 100 settings, and which have -100 to 100 settings internally. Remapping is very useful in a lot of ways, you can even set Min values above Max values, to get a reverse value slider control going on. The fun never ends, but then maybe neither does the potential for confusion eh. smile:D

Yeah I'll play with that. The bad thing is that most components are not really ergonomic and self understandable. It is also a good thing as it compels you to experiment things thus it allows you to find amazing effects you would not think of.

actually, you dont even have to use re-mapping in all these cases. just figure out the scale of the internals and set your slider to correspond. like, if the internal is -90 to +90 and is set to 0, then you would set your slider to 50. 0 is the midway point of -90 and +90 and 50 is the midway point of 0 to 100.
