No new filters for 5 days... The FF team conspicuously silent... there must be something brewing in the labs. I can smell it! smile;)

I am wondering if there was problems with the uploading...because this morning there are filters dated for the 25th...and I know I submitted some before that.

Might have identified one component of the smell: it's a huge number of low usage rank filters at the bottom of the library. It appears we have crossed a probation period threshold. Now I gotta go and have a few of my oldest filters deleted... smile:dgrin:

I noticed that too, I used to have one *high* usage filter and all the rest were *average* usage, now I have 2 *high* usage, lots of *average* usage, and several *low* usage ranked ones. Won't FF just bury them at the bottom of the charts, or quietly erase them at some point for us ?

well, the new filters have been updated now.

as for low usage filters, i do hope nothing gets deleted. i could, however, see something like an archive being created and low usage ones, after a certain time, would get moved to there.

Only the disfunctional quickies that were obviously submitted for the numbers towards getting a free copy......

Eh, some of them just had no legs, whether they were "intentional" quickies-for-the-freeb or not, we could lose 1/2 of the 2000 filters now in the database, and not really notice me thinks, mine included.

very true....

highly doubt it smile:)

Even though some of mine are simple, they are all useful (in my opinion). I figure that if I am using them, then it's likely that other will too. I think that I would be offended if any of mine are deleted.....because I put a good amount of time and effort into all of them......

I wondered when this would come into play, newly submitted filters are appearing in front of the low use filters on the popularity pages, where before the started their life right at the end.

My flags filters are some of the least popular filters ever, so I guess they will disappear from the library sometime. I thought they may have a use but I guess I was wrong

Nothing big here -- we're preparing an update that will offer differently priced editions and some bugfixes. If everything goes as planned, it will be released in two weeks.

Basic Edition, $99 - the Editor cannot save filters, plus all the limitations of the Standard Edition.

Standard Edition, $199 - no 16- and 32-bit modes in the plugin, resolution limited to 3000x3000 pixels, no OpenEXR and PFM, no normal/bump maps, number of CPU cores limited to 2.

Professional Edition, $299 - everything included, no limitations.

The award program is unchanged -- users who made enough filters get the Professional edition. All editions use the same trial executable. The early buyer discount 'stacks' with the discounted price of editions. Owners of cheaper editions can upgrade to higher editions later.

And of course a brand-new sexy Buy page, to replace the crap we have now smile:D

----That right there, should sell as many copies as the other 2 versions put together I would think. But at any rate, good that you have different versions for different types of users/price points. Best of luck with that plan, it has every chance to help your sales. smile:)

yup, excellent plan. and i agree with jffe; you're going to sell a ton of those basic programs. nice way to tickle their interest in the editor side, plus they get all the existing library.

I take it that the trial download will still be the 'professional' version with the 30-day time limit?

Quite a while ago it had been established that the 6th reward would be an extra-comfy cushion hand-signed by Bella. However, one only has use for so many cushions, naturally. Consequently, it remains thrilling to anticipate the comforts that lie beyond the tenth reward... smile;) smile:D

Ahahaha, I couldn't stop laughing when I read Crapadilla's post about the cushion, now I get the injoke on the other post about it ^_^ Ahahah, cushion time, eh?~ ~^_^~

Oh yes, I think the Filter Forge crew's idea to introduce different versions of Filter Forge is an excellent idea and open up the doors to more Filter Forge users. I'd imagine that not everyone who uses Filter Forge uses it to actually create filters, so it makes perfect sense to have an affordable Basic Edition, which means in turn more people to use Filter Forge to help filter forgers try out and fine tune their work. That's the Filter Forge crew for you, always on the ball! ^_^
