(Perhaps this has been talked about before by the Filter Forge crew, but I searched and couldn't find a previous mention on the forums!)

I was looking at the process to buy Filter Forge. Much as I'm appreciative that I got a free copy for beta testing, I noticed that there are volume discounts and an area for a coupon code. Both of these seem to relate to various referral programs I've seen. Especially since FF feels kind of "digital grassroots" right now as word-of-mouth spreads (we may have our very own Malcolm Gladwellesque tipping point here, folks!), there's a ripe potential for people who enjoy it to tell their friends and hopefully get them hooked too.

That relates to what I've been doing, because I'm really enthused about FF and have been spreading the word, whenever someone asks me, "How did you do that?" with the amazing artistic effects I've applied, thanx to members of the FF community.

Well then... for people who may not have the $$$ offhand, who might not be adept filter makers, but who are talented at sparking social phenomena — Connectors (http://http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Connectors) , as Gladwell calls 'em — what about a way to use coupon codes you could give to friends, maybe even through a nice set of graphical banners to post on your website, etc. which would then result in discounts if you and they were trying to work towards a free copy of Filter Forge?

Looks like the potential for this is very ripe (I can see waves spreading through digital artist communities like CGSociety and deviantART) but I'd like to hear what the Filter Forge team and our community here think. Thoughts + feelings? smile:D

(For context, my previous inspiration includes the successful Dreamhost Rewards programme.)
I'm enjoying using Filter Forge to create http://torley.com/textures
