I just successfully installed and activated FF 12.0 but I didn't install it in the default directory (where FF 11 is located) because my C: drive is pretty full. So I installed it on my D: drive instead. I assume now that this was a mistake and that I should de-install FF12.0 from my D: drive and re-install it on my C: drive. Before I do that, however, I wanted to get some confirmation that I should.

The problem is that in FF 12.0 on my D: drive all my favorites are gone and all the filters I have downloaded in the past aren't listed.

So I guess I have to install in the same place my previous version of FF is, right?

What do you mean by gone: did you use the beta version of FF12? The release version should keep all the filters and settings from the beta.

All your FF 11 settings are still there in FF 11.

I guess I didn't explain well enough. When I load FF11 I of course still have access to all my favorites which I have downloaded.

I have been installing every new version of FF since 2011, and if I am not mistaken, whenever I have installed a new version the setup program has asked me if I want to keep my settings and filters fr om the previous version and delete the previous version. In practice this means that when I downloaded all my favorite filters in FF10, I didn't have to download them again when I installed FF11.

When I installed FF12 (release 12.004, not the beta) on a different drive, the setup program did not ask me if I wanted to keep my previous settings from FF11. The sections "Custom Filters" and "Favorites" are empty in the newly installed FF12. I only have access to the default filters that are included with the product.

My question was, if I uninstall FF12 from my D: drive and re-install it on my C: drive (wh ere FF11 resides), will the setup program recognize that I have a previous version installed and give me access to all my previously (in previous versions of FF) downloaded filters in FF12?

For this matter, there is no difference what drive you install FF on. The setup program is not responsible to keep your filters – it is up to the user.

To transfer library filters from FF 11 to 12 please do the following.

In Filter Forge 11, select Tools > Backup Filters and Settings.
Then in Filter Forge 12, select Tools > Restore Filters and Settings.
