And I have already told before and other users have agreed previously that this message may give some confusion as it feels that you may need to have newer FF version that you may need to BUY
Of course that I surely know that if you agree to the Update Now? question it will download the latest FF 10 version available BUT the reason I think that this could be changed and modified is because I have seen the OTHER message that you get if instead of this, you go to the menu ---> Tools --> Updates... Please, see this other message here below ![]() |

The second message is very much more clear and avoids any confusion, and it shows clearly that there is available the 10.006 version available to download and install and with a clearly shown buttons of "DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL" and " CANCEL" in the case you do not want to update
So, the reason of this thread is that I would recommend to change and modify the first message and instead of "To open library filters, you must have a newer version of Filter Forge. Update now?" sorry that I think this is wrong and not helpful as the well done second message shown above I would put "If you want to download new filters, you must download the latest version available. Update now?" or "If you want to download new filters, you must download the latest free version available. Update now?" Or even better and more clear and useful "If you want to download new filters, you must download the available 10.006 version" AND include in the message the same two buttons that are available in the second message "DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL" and " CANCEL" so this way is clear that is free I have already recommended this already in 2013 Please, change the "You need a newer version of Filter Forge" message and in 2021 is still the same If you want to know what I mean with "confusion" here is a thread to show it Need to upgrade to use FF library? WTF? And when the problem is that you want to download a filter for FF 10 and you only have FF 9, 8 or 7 then it should tell that you need to UPGRADE to FF10 (that is what the filter was created) instead of telling simply that you need a newer version |

My confusion is that I have FF9 installed. I tried to download one filter and I get that message.
I agree, and then it proceeds to download/install... version 9.008, which I already have. What should I do? The filter I wanted to download requires version 3.0 so I am genuinely confused. Why do I need to upgrade to use a filter for version 3.0 and when I do agree, it "upgrades" to the same version I have. I am running in circles. |

Searching further in the forum I found the explanation: it prompts me to UPDATE, not UPGRADE.
