Hell everyone and Happy New Year.
I used to have a very old copy of FF, and just bought the newer version today. I would love to understand it better, so, some of my questions are : HOW do I open my first image (which I want to add filters on) in the stand alone app? (Mac user here) Is there any chance to open a RAW image? If it is possible , I use Canon and Fuji, are those files able to be opened in FF? Thank you so much, for any useful answer!!! Best regards, Daniela from Uruguay www.dalsphotography.com Showing species of our world. |

It will depend on what filter you are using it could be through the File ---> Open image menu or through the color control, will tell you more about this later
Not directly in FF standalone, but you can open in any other software that may be host of FF, and so you can open the RAW image there and FF as a plugin. In Mac regrettably there is only support for Photoshop as host.
Same thing as in the previous answer, open them first in the host software and then on FF plugin. As far as I know I think that FF only supports JPG, PNG and TIFF, there may be others, but I am not sure which ones |

To open an image standalone FF 10 :
Image -> Open... In FF 9 this would be File -> Open Image... Note that the basic edition can only open up to 3000x3000, so if your camera is 8 megapixels or above you will need the Pro or Studio edition. If you want to test a filter with small images, you can use the provided samples (600x600) with Image -> Built-in Previews (File -> Built-in Preview Images in FF 9). RAW support: May work for some versions and not for others. RAW is a tough format to support. Try it. If you have to convert, use a lossless format. I personally prefer PNG or TIF. On the Mac you can read many RAW formats with the Preview application and convert it using File -> Export As. I tried a couple of samples from Nikon and Canon and they did NOT open directly in FF, but both files could be converted using Preview (Nikon NEF file ane Canon CR2 file) to a TIF. Also tried a couple of Fuji RAF raw files. Could not open in FF, Mac Preview opened one of them, but not the other, so you will have to try it to see if Preview can convert your camera files. If you want to find out what FF can read, go to https://rawsamples.ch for samples from various manufacturers. Math meets art meets psychedelia. |

Hi again, and thank you both!
Ok, here we go again ![]() ![]() I opened a tiff image, then tried some filters, some were on the prg , and some more I downloaded from the filter data base... so, next couple of questions: Is there a way I can clean part of a filter ? Just as you would do with Photoshop using masks, but in the standalone app? And how do I acess that "node" way of changing filters or even making them from scratch? Thanks again , you are great, as I could understand you perfectly well, even as a non native english speaker! Best for you all !!! PS. I bought the pro app by the way ![]() Showing species of our world. |

Yes, you are doing well with Inglés.
![]() Filter Forge is not an editor, so masking has to be done before using the image in FF standalone. Having said that, some filters work with transparencies, and some do not. To test out images with transparencies in FF 10, you can use the preview images as follows: Image -> Built-in Previews -> Use Transparency You can then test the filter to see if it works with transparencies. Here is a sample image from Many Circles PBR: ![]() To edit an existing filter, select it, then Filter -> Edit To create a new filter: Filter -> New Nice to have you in the forums ![]() Math meets art meets psychedelia. |
