I would like to ask if
- there is any way using Fonts/Texts directly within FilterForge (NOT importing Images of Letters but typing text)? Please let me know if you may provide a link, an example oran idea; I look forward to hearing from you! |

Hello, and welcome to the forum and like your name, as the curiosity is one of the maiin source of creativity and innovations
Regrettably the answer is no, there is no way to to use fonts and write texts, because for this to happen FF needs to be able to use vectors This feature has been already been asked since many years ago already in 2006!!! 12 years ago, but until now there is no news that it will happen any time soon, and seeing that there is the new FF 8 now it will not happen neither before end of next year Although you still can use letters inside FF in two different ways 1 - As you have told well, you can import the letters in image format either with or without transparent background. 2 - Use custom created letters made inside FF with FF components. Typography Modules - Requested already in 2006 I made also the request again in 2012 as shown here Would it be possible to have a TEXT import into FF as a component? In FF 3.0 I could already use some text inside FF as shown here Examples of works I made using my alphabet filters And also here Hey, wouldn't it be cool if FF could do cool things with text?
You can use PSD Fonts Letters inside your filters NOW ! without FF 4.0 and this filter allows you to use them Alphabet ANY FONT Texture Creator Extended Seamless by SpaceRayAlphabet ANY FONT Texture Creator Extended Seamless by SpaceRay And here are more tips and comments about using letter images inside FF Be able to use ANY FONT with Alphabet Texture Creator Extended filter There are now with newer versions of FF more ways to use external imported fonts and some different ways
You can use the following texts created with hard and great work made awesomely by ThreeDee and they work really great as shown in the filters I have made using these ones TD Europa Sans Caps Proc Font Advanced by Threedee ![]() Arial TD Font Snippet by ThreeDee For even more you can search in filter library for FONT and will appear many examples FONT search in filter library
I have made 5 different filters using letters as you can see in my own filters page here For example Alphabet Texture Creator Extended Seamless ![]() or this one Alphabet ANY FONT Texture Creator Extended Seamless by SpaceRay ![]() |

Thanks so much for your very helpful reply!
"PSD Fonts" obviously are a proper workaround for vector based fonts. Good to know about this method, I never heard about it before: Thanks a lot, again! I needed just a few words for a greeting card using a specific font, did copy/paste them as Photoshop Layers. Your method is very handy for short as well as longer texts and decorative fonts - I will definitely use it for more demanding tasks & to experimentate: Your examples look great indeed! |
