Hi
FF should really be able to work with Smart Objects by this time - having to keep rasterising layers each time you want to apply an effect is not an efficient workflow. Is this a planned feature? Thanks Richard |

Probably not possible due to how Smart Objects behave in general.

Unfortunately this is not planned due to limitations of Adobe SDK.

So how are other filters able to work round those same limitations?
If my code isn't able to work with an SDK which others can work with, isn't it my code which is creating the issue? |

In a perfect simple world, maybe. Like maybe in the world where Windows gets better every revision and we'd all agree on that.
If I read correctly, they have /legal/ reasons to keep using the version of the SDK they are at the moment. Meaning no, it's not as simple as you think it is. |

Thank you The_Funktasm, you're reading it correctly. There are reasons to use the SDK we're using now, and we'd prefer not to disclose them.

Maybe this thread from 2006 can help in some way to know why is not possible to use a different SDK in FF, and is explained by Vladimir Golovin
layer integration in FF not possible in Adobe SDK 6.0 |

@The_FUnktasm
You don't know what I'm thinking. I didn't say it was SIMPLE - I'm asking if it is POSSIBLE. |
