Ok... So I just got the professional version (got it for Christmas courtesy of my Mom - I'm over 45 by the way), Anywho...

Let's suppose that I've gotten a new computer, and so I've decided to trash or sell the old one.

Let us also assume that I have already purchased FF6."so and so" - and I have downloaded every darn filter on the Filter Forge site...Great so far...Ok - now -

let's say that I go to C:/Users/"Me"/AppData/Roaming/Filter Forge 6/System/Library
after doing one of those "Locate My File" doohickees, and I copy and paste all of my nifty "ffxml" "Filters" into a new folder on my desktop, burn this folder containing my ffxml files onto a disk (or a zip drive), and then - when I set up my NEW computer - copy the folder contents into my fresh new Filter Forge reinstall - into my NEW "C:/Users/"Me"/AppData/Roaming/Filter Forge 6/System/Library" folder.

Question - Will all of those filters be in my library again - even if I am offline or on an "intranet", or "isolated" terminal - or are the "ffxml" files merely Filter Forge's way of telling the web site "YoooHooo - I'm over heeere - let me use this filter on your server please!"

In short - are these really full fledged "filters" that are real apps that are useable offline as well as online through FF - or just shell to online point to point flags? Are these files truly portable? Do I have to be online to use the filters that I have downloaded - to clarify - have I downloaded merely a bunch of web address?

No. To properly transfer filters to a different computer you need to copy two files and one folder:
%APPDATA%\Filter Forge 6\System\Library\
%APPDATA%\Filter Forge 6\System\Library.xml
%APPDATA%\Filter Forge 6\System\LibraryStructure.xml

Yes, filters are fully portable and once you load filters into your copy of FF, you can perfectly use them offline.

Ma' Lord - wouldst thou be speaking henceforth of these such pathways on Windows 8.0 or 8.1?:

APPDATA / Roaming / Filter Forge 6 / System / Library (The folder hence eluded to...)

APPDATA / Roaming / Filter Forge 6 / System / Library.xml (first file)

APPDATA / Roaming / Filter Forge 6 / System / LibraryStructure.xml (second file)...

Notice the lack in your response of the term "Roaming" - as it applies to my computer...

My "APPDATA" folder has three subfolders:

LOCAL

LOCAL LOW

ROAMING

My "APPDATA" folder is located at the directory path:

C: / Users / "Me" / Appdata / (subfolders)

Would you be referring to perhaps, another "appdata" folder located somewhere else on my machines OS directory tree?

If not - then when I DO make a fresh new install - should my saved filters (old Library folder) and those other two files be re-pasted into the following location?:

C: / Users / Me / Appdata / Roaming / Filter Forge 6 / System /

King Puddin Pants, note the presence in my response of the percentage symbols - they indicate a system variable. Please open Explorer/My computer and type the following in the address bar:

%APPDATA%\Filter Forge 6\

Yeeeeessssss...I did this - I do not have a "My Computer" anywhere on my O.S. (Window 8.0 / 8.1), but in the explorer - under "Computer" - I did indeed type in "%APPDATA%/Filter Forge 6 , and behold - it
did take me to (are ya' ready for this one kids?) :

C:/Users/Me/Appdata/ROAMING/Filter Forge 6

Is this the correct path sir?

Yes, this is the correct path. And while the "Me" part can vary between different computers, the %APPDATA%\Filter Forge 6\ command will always take you to the correct location.
