Hello,
I ran into this site while looking up the color theory meanings and I have a couple of questions because I don't have a whole lot of knowledge with this. When I place an order, am I allowed to get a hard copy mailed to me, or does it have to be downloaded? I don't understand the difference when buying something that creates our own filters. I thought that by using Photoshops filters, you were creating your own backgrounds etc. through those? Could someone please shead some light on this, because I don't understand the difference. Thanks, Linda |

Hello lyndaschat I'm not a spokesperson or anything just a highly addicted user ![]() Well one difference is while you can create backgrounds with photoshop filters. You are limited to what is there. In FF you can create your own filter that creates not only backgrounds. But photo effects, distortions and many, many other things..Have a look at the library and see what is there... http://www.filterforge.com/filters/ Stupid things happen to computers for stupid reasons at stupid times! |

If you find one filter is limited to a certain thing, you can edit that filter and create some new filter out of that one..

Do you have a tutorial online as to how I would do that? I'm not to sure that when I use one filter in PS, then if I want to create something new, use another filter over it.. if you are calling that "Editing" it.. or if you mean to actually pick parts of it?
Thanks, Linda Does the software have beginner tutorials with it? or are their tuts for beginners online? |

Well I did look through your filters, but still I thought that PS's filters already could do this. .. sorry, maybe this isn't for a beginner like me then? I would download the trial version, but honestly I hate to do that, I prefer to buy a full version if I think I'll use it.
Thanks, Linda |

You can actually take apart the filter (looking at the guts of it) and move stuff around change it and create a total new filter....
![]() Well since FF is still kinda new there is not many tutorials around..However there is this one that will at least give you a start..You can also download the trial to give it a whirl... http://www.photoshoproadmap.com/Photo...s-texture/ Stupid things happen to computers for stupid reasons at stupid times! |

You might think this sounds silly, but could you tell me something about the programmer? Like is he from the USA? or over seas?
The tutorial that you showed me give me a pretty good idea and I would guess that I could always come here with questions also. So if I download the free version, is it one of those things that I must save to a CD myself then.. and if I buy it, I only need a registration code to keep it running? or if I buy it, I can get the full version snail mailed out to me? It says that it is out in the first quarter of 2007, so do I still have to actually wait a few more months for the full? Thank you, Linda |

The trial version actually is a full version. It's not feature restricted in any way, but the license expires after a month or so. --- Crapadilla says: "Damn you, stupid redundant feature requests!" ;) |

Yes, you can get a CD by mail.
Four programmers and 8 more employees, all physically located overseas (Russia) but the company itself is incorporated in the USA (Commonwealth of Virginia). Lawyers, patent attorneys and CPAs are in the USA as well.
Yes, and even if you forget or lose it, you can always get a replacement code -- contact us and we'll look up your order in our database.
Hopefully not months, but I can't promise anything ![]() |

I've just bought the program, I'll let you know how I make out! If you think of any tips/tutorials, drop a line once in while.

Well that tutorial tells me that I have options that I don't have. Did you ever follow it? Follow it and you'll see what I mean.. left and right is backwards compared to the objects in my program.
There's no foreground to choose and there's no reflection, and no Operations choice under the Components. I did choose All and found blend, but then like I said.. there's not a foreground to choose from. I do see "A" and "B".. but which is which? Linda |

Linda, there are two Blend components in FF:
- Processing > Blend is what you need for the tutorial - Curve Ops > Blend is what you're currently looking at (A and B) As for the left-to-right orientation, that tutorial was written for the old version of FF, we reversed the direction of connection flow since then. |

I've not seen anything that said I could change an option.. not yet anyway..
Can't one of you make up a simple tutorial like the one that's listed, but for this version? Cause this is screwing me up. It really would help your sales anyway if people can visually follow something to get their feet wet. |

lynda,
open up filter forge, in the menu, go to 'tools' and pick 'options'. a new window will open that has tabs along the top. choose the tab marked 'filter editor'. in that view you can look about half way down and see 'direction of connections' printed there. click the one you want, left to right or right to left, and that will alter the direction of the components in the filter editor. If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

This is wonderful! I don't know how I'll ever get it right, but I finally did make my rocks earlier today. I would buy a tutorial via book, plus a dvd. <s>
