I have discovered discovered something that I did not know, and is that I have downloaded some filters from the website library, that use color controls to feed the images into bomber of FF 4

The problem is that when I go to settings and load an image that is vertical, and is non-square, it does not work as expected, I mean that the color control seems that it only allows to use square images, because if you put a non square, it will make all the "missing" parts transparent and then in bomber will be added to the particle the background color through this transparent part

If you use in image placement, if you use Placement --> Stretch, it will stretch the image to become square, and fill all the transparent, and I do not want that and want to keep the original size. Also do not want to tile it

I have found this thread Short tutorial on How to use "Color control" component to load images but there is no reference to this topic

Here is a screenshot I have done showing the vertical image loaded with the transparent part that is added by the color control, and how is shown on the bomber with the background color

Your screenshot has the right setup.

The bomber's blend mode appears to be set incorrectly.

The above example shows that any of the input is enclosed on the square and what I really want to have is the following

Alright, it turns out it requires a slight of hand trick but it works. Sorry for the initial answer, thanks for all the extra example posts. It finally makes better sense.

I made a video tutorial instead of making it a jumble of words and descriptions. I figure a video may explain something better.

Important thing. In my case I'm squashing things in the negative direction, although for vertical images, I guess go the positive squash direction. The point is this: we're unsqushing the output of the bomber.

Note that this method works only if the input image ratios are all the same. If by chance those letters are different sizes, then the process is significantly more complicated. FilterForge is clearly requiring square inputs because of the way this whole system works (works on squares). For all non-square inputs things get a bit tricky but still solvable nonetheless.

Interesting question really. Hope the video helps.

After I tested it myself it works very well and is exactly what I wanted, although it has the big limitation of only being able to use it with all the image with the same width, I understand of course that this would be probably too complex to make it in another way, so it is good anyway and can be used great for same size images

I want to thanks you again for taking the time to make the video, love the way you explained it, and it was very helpful and useful and understood it perfectly

it seems that you are very used to make this kind of video tutorials and you are very natural and expressive, well done, do you make also other kind of video tutorials as work? Have you done other tutorials for FF?

So the answer to my question on the title is : no

I have a couple video tutorials from ages ago but FilterForge overall doesn't change so a lot of these are still relevant.

WOW! Thanks very much Lexart for making this thread, is very interesting, as I had also be asking myself how it would be possible to make this sometimes, but never asked it here, as I really did not need it, but now that you have done it I think is very goood

Following the very good and useful video from Skybase I have made this filter for Lexart and anybody else that may be interested

See the description included

Load non-square images in the color controls available

Be aware that you must use all vertical or all horizontal source images for this to work correctly, as the stretch will be used globally

Images will not be able to be different size, as the color controls are already configured to be stretch so all the images will be square in the same size, so they will match correctly

Thanks again to Skybase for making the video and for being able to solve this

Thanks very much SpaceRay for making the filter for me and making it customizable with 5 source images and settings, like

i have already made it as shown from the very good and well done video by Skybase, but was very busy and did it only with one source image
