This has been something that I've been noticing for years... you find a filter that you would probably never download, but one of the 8 or 10 apparent presets is just perfect for your needs... Awesome!... You download the filter and instead you find there are only two or three presets and the one you liked is not one of them... Yeah, I could mess around till I got that result... Yeah, at least I know its possible with that filter... But still... Grrrrr!
How does this happen? Is it some bad mojo that occurs on upload or is it artist negligence? Is it that the artist changed the filter and uploaded a new one but the preview of the old one remained? Am I missing the point of "Variations" and they are not actually preset examples like I thought they are supposed to be? What was the name of Rudyard Kipling's pet mongoose? If its just a bug or borked upload, how can we avoid this problem for future generations?... Think of the little children and how sad they get. Inquiring minds need to know... I suppose the mongoose question wasn't necessary and small child don't really use FF, but any ideas on this? Anyway, the only reason I'm mentioning this is that just happened with a few filters just now and I thought that after all these years I'd ask. Well, later... Cheers, beers and have a great day folks. |

When you don't make presets, FF automatically (randomly) generates some to display on the webpage. That is the simplest/most likely explanation.

Hmmm... Sounds logical.
I was hoping there would be some exciting answer... Something involving the Illuminati and Bigfoot, or something like that... But I guess this is better. Thanks! |

Thanks, that's good to know, I never knew about or noticed that 9 presets rule... I'll keep that in mind for any future filters I submit... I think previously mine had at least 8 or 6
