Don't know if I will get to these or not but thought I would post a couple of ideals that I was thinking of for filters. More towards the art side of filters.

I was sort of aiming at hieroglyphics meets indian art with "HaidaGlyphic Patternizer". Obviously it wasn't very "authentic" looking ha-ha, but I'd love to see some more stuff like that in general.
 Not too sure about wood burning, I'm sure it could be done though, since several wood filters already have been made. Scratchboard would probably be tough to emulate. Reminds me vaguely of that "The Scream" painting with the swirls, and there's a filter than makes backgrounds like that already, plus yer da swirl jedi.
