We released the final version of Filter Forge 5:
https://filterforge.com/more/news/1064.html Feel free to download and play with the new version! If you have a paid upgrade to FF5 you should have received your license key by now. If you have a lifetime HU award license, Filter Library Backups and Librarians for 5.0 should be available tomorrow. Since we introduced loads of new stuff in the release version, the bug hunting campaign is extended till December 18. |

Ok wait, this is possibly the most smoothest version of FilterForge I've ever used on the mac. The editor interface feels less clunky than it used to be.

Yes, Rod_D, me too.
I guess you have a High Usage license. GMM said "If you have are a lifetime HU award license, please be patient as we're still setting up key generators for you. " Maybe they need 1-2 days. They will surely be ready soon. |

We sent out invitations for lifetime prize holders a few minutes ago. As usual, you will need to follow a unique link in the email, and fill in the license request form.
If you are eligible for a free copy, please check your inbox and spam folder and contact the support team if you haven't received anything. |

I just got two emails saying: "We are happy to tell you that you are entitled to a free lifetime upgrade license key for Filter Forge 4.0." Should it say 5.0 or is this "from 4.0"?

Uhm, yes, it should have been "for Filter Forge 5.0". Sorry, it seems nobody has bothered to update the email template.

Well I got the key# but when I entered it the software gave me an invalid number message. I checked the number twice from the Email and it's right. I have 4.0 pro. Shouldn't it just exept the key and update the software?

WOW!! I thought that it would not be appearing until January 2016
Congratulations to the FF team for the release and I wish all the best for this new version and that it can sell a lot and get profit from the work done I do not have time to test it now, and also is the problems that I do not understand and now how to use the new + componentsa with slaves features or the pixel awareness. So then there is not much I can do with FF 5.0 myself, only test what others can do. As as usual is not explained HOW to use the new features I have not received yet my new keys, but does not matter because there is always the 30 days test, so there is time enough to get it. |

If you are upgrading to 5 Pro from 4 pro you need to install FF 5 and enter the username and key after your first launch of the software. Rod

Thanx everyone for your advice. I've got FF 5.0 on my computer. I do have one or two complaints. The filter thumbnails are slow to respond and stay white for a few seconds before showing the image. Plus the Anti-Aliasing seems a little different. The image looks really blurry before it Anti-Alias properly. Also, how do you shut off the little notice at the bottom of the screen that tells you the image in smaller than the original. Anybody else having these problems?

It looks exactly the same as the previous versions. If you mean "blurry" as in rendering multiple passes then you can disable that.
See image. I don't know the rest of the problems, just contact help if you're experiencing problems. They'll give you official responses. ![]() |

What is the most compelling reason to upgrade?

ON OS X: Mouse wheel doesn't zoom in /out while scrolling node list. Seems to be more stable than 4 too. - I never expected the Spanish inquisition |

Is it more stable for OS X or does that also apply to the Windows versions? Don't step on a dead dogma. It'll turn up again and bite you! |

PayPaul, we have a free fully-functional trial version. Why don't you install it and decide if the new version is worth upgrading?

I have the full version of 4.0 pro. I'm considering the upgrade. Interested in the Bomber aspect of this version. I'm also curious about the possibility of more controls ie: more precise sliders. Don't step on a dead dogma. It'll turn up again and bite you! |

Filter Forge 5 is installed as a separate program and won't interfere with your 4.0 installation.

I decided to go with the lifetime upgrade. It's a bargain right now at $179. I didn't even think that was available but it turned to be the case....with the greater discount. It's much easier for me to do this one time.

Hooray for the FF5 release, though I'm a bit bummed that as a person who already had purchased the lifetime upgrade (earlier this year), I didn't get an email notification and serial. I know it didn't get caught up in a spam or junk mail filter, since I've whitelisted filterforge.com emails and the company has no trouble sending me sales emails to pitch me on pre-orders for upgrades (that I don't need to buy) or library backup discs.
I've downloaded and installed in trial mode and hope to get a quick response from the support team, and hopefully they'll be able to get whatever they need to fixed so I find out about new releases (and get my license info) in a more timely fashion. Hopefully now that the 5.0 release is out there, the development team can focus on figuring out 64-bit support and OpenCL. I work on larger size textures, and find that at 4K and above render times and application stability leave a whole lot to be desired. |

Yes, is true, it happens the same to me, I have also a lifetime upgrade and also did not get any email with the new key, and have also checked that is not in the junk mail. I am using the trial version as it has 30 days free I think that the best is to contact directly to the FF support and ask for the key, I will do it and send my name, email and the serial number of FF 4.0 as proof. |
