I can't believe FF has been out for close to 6 years now, and still does not treat pixel size and resolution as the rest of the graphics industry does.

Why can't the pixel size go larger than 600X600? I type in 2000, but it still renders it as 600X600 pixels! That is nonsense.

Resolution usually refers to dpi (dots per inch, or pixels per inch). It relates back to print media. Some printers can print up to 2400 dpi. So if you wanted an image to be very crisp and sharp (especially text on a large image) you would adjust your image to the sharpest resolution necessary for your image. This means an image of 600X600 at 300 dpi is essentially 18,000 X 18,000 pixels at 75dpi (screen resolution).

But from what I can tell FF does not have the capability to increase resolution or pixel width and height. What am I missing???? smile:?:

All built-in images are 600x600. You can go to File / New Image and create an empty document of any size. The Size, pixels slider refers to the current image size and only alters how the filter functions, not the actual pixel size. You can also use any of your own images of any size with File / Open Image.

I will also add to what Rick has already pointed out is uncheck the "Reduce Preview Size" to see what your image looks like before rendering.....

You can of course render results perfectly in any size beyond 600x600 there is no limitation about this, there is no problem.

other different thing is the PREVIEW images that may be 600x600 images, but you can then, choose to preview ACTUAL size and you will be able to see the real size you have choosen

In addition to the above replies I'd like to note Filter Forge is not designed for pre-print. It doesn't read the DPI setting that may be saved in your image file.
