Suppose that a filter creates a basic image A
by using gradients and other components. (1) We save that created image A on disk. (2) We eliminate the part of the filter that creates the image A. (3) We load image A from disk into the filter. Question 1: Why is the loaded image resulting always into a degraded image as opposed to the created image A? Question 2: In what format should we save/load image A so that it is the least degraded in the final result? Thank you! ffatha |

uncompressed 16 bit tiff or 32bit exr.
FilterForge loads images as-is, there shouldn't be degradation, if you're talking about color profile that's a different story. The key here is that FilterForge is directly loading what pixel values there are in the image. Color profiles are a completely separate entity. Uhhh unless FF is spitting out corrupt image files (which that'll be a different story). Also note that if the filter doesn't use HDR components, where the output is LDR, there's no point saving 16bit tiff files. Just use 8bit formats. EXR formats should save what you got directly, however, note that this is a pretty specific format for a broad range of purposes. I recommend dealing with EXR formats if you have a reason for them and also that your workflow incorporates them. Make sure you really know what you're doing with exr. Otherwise it'll be better just saving tiff files. You can assign color profiles in Photoshop. ![]() |

Thank you, Skybase. Remember, I am not talking about the fnal image
In Photoshop. I am talking about the "Result" image in the FF interface. It can get pretty degraded when we load the initial image from disk. Thank you, again! |
