If I apply a Filter Forge filter - like grunge or one of the many painting styles, my final image comes out as 72dpi even if I started with a 300 dpi image. Frankly, 72 dpi is useless to me in creating art work for sale or to make fine art prints. Is there some way to adjust settings or make the program render in higher resolution or at least in the original image resolution?

You can set DPI later in various image editing programs. So basically if you render something high res and it comes out as 72dpi, then you can set the DPI to 300 in Photoshop.

Remember, while image resolution can't technically be changed later, you can change DPI later. smile:)

By the way, if you use FilterForge as a plugin, it'll maintain the DPI. Standalone doesn't

Either way, thought I'd help out with a picture. In photoshop, you can change DPI in the image size menu.

Thank you so much - I thought if I changed the dpi back to 300 I'd get blockiness and pixelation. I have to run my re-installation as a standalone because I'm using Photoshop Elements 12 and it's incompatible with FF as a plug-in. Very disappointed about that because it was much more convenient!! I so appreciate your quick response.

Starting with version 8 Filter Forge retains the original DPI metadata.

YAY!!!!

I wasn't going to upgrade from version 7 until I saw that version 8 retains the original DPI metadata.
