I have been offline for a while. I own FF 4.0 BASIC. I have downloaded 4.07.
I have virtually no interest in creating filters. I was perfectly happy with using all the wonderful filters and presets other members have created. Now when I try to use a filter on an image I can't because it says I must upgrade to STANDARD before I can use the filters. What the heck is that? I really just want to use the filters I had access to before that I paid for. |

Are you sure that it is asking to upgrade to Standard Edition? Maybe it is only asking you to upgrade to the new version of Basic Edition.
Filter Forge sometimes is changed to solve small bugs. In that case you simply have to say yes to the upgrade and, without paying anything, in less than two minutes you will be able to use your Filter Forge as before. Or maybe the image you want to process is very big. The Basic and Standard Edition give you the chance to work on images up to 3000 x 3000 pixels. If the image is bigger, you need to upgrade to Professional Edition. |

All the versions of FF are allowed to use ALL the filters from the filter library Does it happen with any filter? Can you show a screenshot of this message you are getting? |

Amy, I saw this before a couple of times. Sometimes they release updates in order to fix problems like Ramlyn said and once you update FF, it should work as it did before. They're free and are for the version you are currently using. I had to do this yesterday (Jan 16) so there has been a recent update so that might be it.

I think that the problem here and as it has happened also to other FF user is the not well done FF messages given that drives to confusion and is not really very clear what is telling and can easily make FF user think wrong
For example I have already suggested this Please, change the "You need a newer version of Filter Forge" message |
